What watch do you wear?

Anyone purchased a new GMT or sub recently? Potentially have a contact to get into an AD but waiting to hear back.
Really don’t want to go used but will if I can’t secure one by Christmas. A little present to myself.
If you're after a steel version then you'll probably struggle via an AD, may get lucky but you'll get the "we'll put you on a waiting list" spiel. Silly game really. Some ADs have DJ with plain bezel and oyster bracelets, my local offered me one, but it was ugly IMO.

I would rather pick up a nearly new watch from Blancpain, JLC, Panerai or Omega that has had it's initial depreciation hit.

For a diver - https://www.chrono24.co.uk/blancpain/blancpain-fifty-fathoms-45mm--id22506997.htm - 17k new.
GMT - https://www.chrono24.co.uk/jaegerle...nless-steel-new-2024-q9078640--id35413152.htm - 15k new.

It's been a while since a wore my Junghans. Felt good wearing it yesterday.

Got this little mid 90s Baby-G inverted display unit from another batch of broken Casio watches from Japan:

I did my usual triage, and stuck in new batteries, and nothing happened. So I had a little look inside and found some corrosion in the battery bay:

So, decided to give it a quick clean:

These were the culprits:

The case looks pretty clean inside, so did not seem to have gone too far:

Movement out:

Quick tear down:

The extent of the corrosion was not too bad:

But there was some buildup around the PCB:

Part way through cleaning:

Other side just needed a little clean up:

Most of the bits and pieces:

Back together....

Looks ok?? Well, it runs, and has a display and buttons working/etc... However all was not well. It was only viewable from a few specific angles and was pulsating slightly, so I had a suspicion the tiny ribbons that connect the screen to the pcb may have been either faulty or dirty.

This is what it looked like when viewing straight on:

So, I pulled it back to bits, and this time pulled the display fully into parts too, and gave them a proper clean with IPA and a bristle brush. Back together, and it looked promising!

Voila!

Backlight is working:

Fancied trying a 62mas so decided on the new 2024 version , is it worth £1380 , definitely not.
It looks fantastic but are seiko no longer the king of cheap and good , a decade ago £200 quid would get you a good watch but now those watches are creeping closer and above 1k.
I think orient are now going to take over the cheaper end of the market.(thats the jap market , not the chinese market)
A bonus though is the date is not on a slant as they normally are at that position ,(gilt numbers instead of white would have been better) although a no date would have been awesome.

Thoughts on Pelagos GMT vs. non-GMT?

I am looking for a "grown up" watch that is a bit bulkier than my current collection; in black.
I hadn't realised the GMT version is the collaboration with the navy. I think I'm going to try the pelagos 39 as I love the bezel, but I may just go all-in and get a Submariner. I am anti-rolex BS but it just seems to have the presence on the wrist I'm lacking from my BB58, Sea + Speedy.
