What watch do you wear?

I thought it might be a bit of fun, begin that it's the end of the year, to post the current state of our watch collections and to see what everyone's purchasing (or selling) plans for the future are.

Here is my current collection in the swanky new box I got for Christmas. Only got a camera phone and I'm clueless so photos aren't the best in the world.

First up is probably what I wear the most, the Steiny Ocean One in well-worn green:

Secondly, my Vostok Amphibia, which still needs the dial in the photo above fitting to it.

Next, and one I don't think I've posted before, my Timex TX-500 world time. The brand TX is, as far as I know, is a now defunct upmarket brand by Timex. There isn't much special about the German designed quartz movement, but I just fell in love with the dial and the complications of the piece on holiday one year but never bought it. A few years later I spotted it for sale while browsing a random watch site and just had to have it.

Now my slightly ruined Christopher Ward C4 Peregrine. It was what I would count as my first "nice" watch. It doesn't get an awful lot of wrist time these days, as for some reason the chronograph doesn't quite function correctly. the minute counter in the chrono won't reset to 30 and also the date now refuses to change. I must get it sorted really.

Last up are a couple of watches I don't wear but belonged to my late grandfather, so I look to keep them nice for sentimental reasons. One is a Montine manual wind, which I know very little about, but it still works after nearly 20 years of sitting idle. The other is a Seiko quartz which I'm going to get the battery changed and a new strap put on as it makes quite a nice dress watch.

My planned purchases for the year ahead, while I'm not certain yet, will probably be a Seiko SKX007, some sort of G-Shock for when there's a danger of my mechanicals getting dinged or damaged, plus for all the cool tech stuff crammed into it. Will probably be this one: http://www.creationwatches.com/prod...ti-band-atomic-gw-9400-3-mens-watch-5133.html
And finally, a Kemmner Fleiger A (http://uhrforum.de/attachments/684019d1378468639-mein-neuer-kemmner-flieger-flieger.jpg)

If things go better than expected, then possibly an Omega Speedmaster, but we will have to wait and see.

Speaking of the Seiko SKX007, can anyone recommend a place that will check stock before hand? Or easy returns? I've read a bit about alignment issues can be luck of the draw.

Creation watches is where most people have got their SKX007, can't comment on returns or if they will check stock but.

I've sent them a message, might just have to take a punt on one.

Thinking about one of those with a nato and maybe a Laco Genf.

Could you let us know in here what they say? I'll probably be getting my 007 from creation too. Just discovered my C4 warranty runs out in 2 weeks. I've submitted a very hasty warranty claim :)

Yeah I will do.

Got my Dad a SNK809K2 and its really nice considering the price, so the 007 looks like a good buy. Think the size of it would do me better than the 809.

Where do people get their straps from?

My Christmas present to myself this year - nice Heuerville strap to go with the Speedy.

One is listed as the Japanese model one as rest of world model (J=Japan).

To bre honest both are over priced compared to creation.

Could anybody please explain the difference between these watches? from what I gather one has a larger case size with a thinner strap, and the other has smaller case with thicker strap, also one says 21 jewels on the face. here are the links:

what justifys the extra cost here?

The second one the SKX007J1 is the Japanese version and is made in Japan.

Other than some markings it's exactly the same - http://forums.watchuseek.com/f281/differences-between-skx007k-skx007j-explained-81783.html
