What watch do you wear?

Have you maybe considered an IWC Aquatimer? Lots of colour combinations available and it's a proper dive watch from a respectable brand with some dive watch heritage. For example:

http://www.chrono24.com/en/search/index.htm?countryIds=UK&dosearch=true&maxAgeInDays=0&priceTo=-1&query=aquatimer&redirectToSearchIndex=true

Yes, too big for me, I don't find the design inspiring, and a bit overpriced for what you get imo.

If case size is an issue, you should probably stick with the Omega Seamaster. It's the least bulky 'serious' dive watch I've seen.

My Seamaster Pro is really slim and compact for a 300m diver and works equally well on bracelet, ISOfrane rubber or a NATO. It's nicely finished, super legible (mine has the sword hands) and has excellent lume.

He's already tried the SMP as mentioned on the previous page, and it seems the Pelagos ticks more boxes :p

There isn't another watch with the same bracelet clasp as the Pelagos. I'd be happy to pay half the total cost just to have that alone.

The Pelagos is great, though I'm not a fan of the blue variant - the blue is too bright for me.

And you're right about the clasp - it's a work of genius. I'd love to have one on my Explorer.

If I was buying Tudor though I'd have to go for a Black Bay black. A great looking watch and works great on rubber, leather or bracelet.

Hope Richdog finds 'the one' :D

Ooh yes, for me the Black Bay with red bezel and gold accenting is such a beautiful watch. Best of all the Black bays don't have a date window

It never the one... just one for now. :D

Thanks for the tips rough mate I'll let you know how it goes. I'm drawn to the Pelagos through genuine appreciation of the design and craftsmanship, I'd say it's a cut above any omega within the price range and a rung or two more. And sometimes, I like unconventional. However we will see I still need to try it on yet! :)

Heresy, I like date windows. :p

EDIT - Actually, the more I look at the Black Bay the more I like it. The movement is also the new in-house movement with silicon spring. Hmm, worth thinking about, especially the bronze. I need to go try me some on.

Well, I went to try a couple of watches on this evening and was quite surprised. The Omega Seamaster 300m Chrono is a porky little bugger, or maybe I'm just so used to my non-Christian that I didn't realise how much pudgyier they are.

I also, for lulz, tried on a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. Lovely watch, but no way is it worth the money, and the bracelet is pretty but has no dive clasp.

The one I didn't get to try, and am now giving serious thought to, is the Tudor Pelagos in Blue. It seems like you are getting an obscene amount of watch for your money, with a high-end in-house movement with 70 hour power reserve, titanium bracelet, genius adjustable strap, and all round awesome craftsmanship.

Normally I'd go for the black but the blue colour is actually very cool, and I don't mean in a fad way... it is different and just incredibly pleasing. I think it is something that will see a lot of casual wear. Will it pass at a black tie party? Nope, but I am very tempted to buy something black and sleek so that I can have both angles covered:

I have read a few moans about the five lines of text on the dial, but I don't mind it at all and I don't think I would even notice it after a week. It's just a beautifully simple dial that I can't stop looking at in appreciation on the photos and YouTube videos that I see. Lume also seems incredible.

Here are a couple of great articles on it:

Just out of interest, what are your guys thoughts on the watch? :)

I'm liking the Blue Pelagos, might try one on myself.

Not sure I understand. Too expensive or too cheap? There is a Swatch for $150 and one's up to $1950. So that covers a good spectrum of affordability.

Too expensive, listing $2k + watches as affordable?

Nope, maybe for the intended viewership of the website that's the case, but certainly not for me.

What about the chrono offerings from Damasko, richdog? They do a Valjoux and an in house (with silicon parts - their own website suggests it's a modified Valjoux, but I'd read it was completely in house...perhaps the usual blurred lines between modified and in house are striking again EDIT: yup, they themselves say it's a Valjoux with certain parts made in house, and they don't claim it's an in house movement, that was some reviewer's mistake), but the real appeal to me is the 60HRC bracelet.

Within budget, and they look rather tasty, but it's not a brand I'm overly familiar with.

Buy a German dive watch instead of Swiss? Art thou crazy? :p

Ok well after work today I legged it to my local Poundland to try out the Tudors... and I fell in love. The blue looks absolutely magnificent in the flesh, it is truly, to my eye, a thing of beauty. The blue looks more subdued than in the review photos you see online, and yet it kind of burns with some inner fire that really just draws the eye. The ********* hands I love, and the five lines of writing I know I will forget about in very short order, it's really not that distracting at all. The bezel makes a gloriously deep ticking sound as it rotates, as though it is really from a larger piece of machinery. It is a beautiful watch, and the strap is just a work of art... so light and comfortable. It made me smile.

And for completeness purposes the black, which I think looks positively ho-hum in comparison...

I am now massively tempted to buy the Pelagos in Blue which I will wear with anything blue and for casual stuff, and then in a couple of months go for something black and dressy for all other situations so that I can have both angles covered. :)

I loved the new Omega Planet Oceans launched at Baselworld this year and had an opportunity to check them out at the weekend. I was interested in two of the new 600M Master Co-Axial 43.5mm watches – The steel black & orange and titanium grey & orange

The bezel is ceramic with an orange rubber insert - is that correct? My worry would be the orange getting marked over time... Having seen the watch in person SDK^, is it something to worry about? It's the first time I've seen a picture when you posted in this thread and I think I have a serious issue deciding between this and the 300m I was planning on getting next year.

That blue tudor is a stunning watch as well. Way better than the black in my opinion. Even if the only thing I think looking at the picture is "bezel out of line" ha ha

I have the 'current' PO with the orange aluminium bevel; I've been wearing it for a year and it doesn't have a /single/ mark. I'm not too fussy about the watches, so it'd been banged about a little; the bracelet has a few tiny marks, but the watch itself is pristine...
