So why post in a thread about watches?

I'm still loving my cheap Omega replica that i bought from Dubai in January. It's still in pristine condition and hasn't missed a beat, and i don't feel the need to replace it for a real one as i haven't seen one i prefer the look of.

Yeah, i'll probably get slated for it but i don't care :p

I do want a genuine Omega but i'd only want the same as that, and whilst that one is working, i see no point in replacing it, at least i can wear it daily without fear of damaging it.

And unless you spend quite a bit of money, the chronograph is'nt one, it acts as some sort of date markers, and the 'second' hand isn't fixed to the 12:00

I mean, I do have a couple of replicas, but the chronograph ones are just a no-no unless you spend $500+ -- and damn, for $500 you can get a pretty nice watch...

I understand that, but it is what it is. The chronograph does work. It's what I would assume an AA replica. It has a nice weight to it, it keeps time very well, in fact, I've only ever adjusted the time to change daylight saving. But without trying to justify it, I love the face and the colours of the watch, it's the only reason i bought it, plus it only cost about £30 so it was no big cost. I think it's paid for itself.

I'm tempted to look at a 'noob' v7 rolex submariner when I'm out in Bangkok next month as by all accounts, they are very good with good movement and about 14000 baht (£70ish). But they are easily selling here for £150 - £200. But again, it's a watch I could wear every day without fear of scratching and ruining.

Don't stress about scratching - real versions of the watch have shapphire crystal glass which doesn't scratch. Any marks on the strap can be polished out.

This also has sapphire glass as well as a stainless steel bracelet, it looks exactly the same as my mates real planet ocean bracelet, it hasn't stretched or buckled and doesn't feel cheap.
I wear it all the time, I've caught it a few times, the build quality really is very good for a rep. Like I say, it's not the kind of replica you buy from a lucky lucky man in Tenerife. I
t's not just the glass you have to worry about though, I've seen many real watches where the bracelet is scratched to bits too, especially at the clasp and I'd be gutted if I got a single mark on my watch if I'd paid £1k plus for it. If I did buy one, I wouldn't wear it for that reason, and to be honest, I'd rather spend my thousands on seeing the world. I could (and do) see a lot of nice places for the price of a real planet ocean. I'm off to NZ again in 2 weeks, followed by Bangkok on the way back.

the thing is though..... its a fake, not a replica, not a homage... Just a plain fake. I think if i didnt have the money to buy a real one, Id buy something i could afford which didnt pretend to be something else.

I have 6 watches, 5 of them real, most expensive is my galaxy gear S2 classic, followed by an Emporio Armani, a Rotary dress watch, a cheap Timberland watch, a Diesel watch and a Skagen, i bought this because i love the design, not because it's a fake / replica. I simply love the look of it, the colour and design, it's everything i want in a watch, it works, tells the time, chrono works, it's been my daily for a year in 2 weeks and has never let me down. Tell me that's not worth £30 to me. Maybe not to you, but to me it is. As i sais, i'd rather spend £3000 on travelling the world than a watch. Seeing new places is more important to me.

At the end of the day it's a watch, most people don't give a toss what you're wearing and 90% if not more of people won't have a clue how to identify a fake anyway.

I like real watches and expensive ones but they're worth nowhere near their retail price and many (rolex wearers :p) are just using them as a status symbol, usually the guys who like to make sure they show everyone what brand car they drive in the same photo :D

Buy an unbranded one then

You are trying to mislead people

And if you had the money you'd be at it all as well. :p
