What would you do with £6,000?

This.

Fancied Japan next year. Then I realised it would cost £6k for two people for two weeks.

Quickly changed mind :p

How did you get to that?

My and the OH want to go in 2012

If I won £6000 just like that I would (very boring) pay off my debts and hopefully have enough left for a holiday. :)
If I simply had £6000 laying around I'd ISA it for a rainy day.

I stuck a load (more than your total) in a Stocks and Shares ISA with RBS, through Natwest.

It seems to be making a few hundred a year, which isn't bad considering I let it sit there in my normal super lower interest account for a few years :o

I did start mine around the time the 'Recession' kicked in, so I guess I ended up with lots of cheap shares which have risen in value.

iPad 64GB WiFi + 3G
iPhone 4 32GB
27" iMac - i7 Upgrade, 8GB RAM, 2TB Drive
DroboPro + 8x2TB Western Digital Green Drives

All yours for around £4200, buy a gaming laptop to cover all bases.

Yes, I have given much thought about this, shame I only have like £200 to my name.

Right now I'd use £4k to pay off various debts I have and stick the remaining £2k in some sort of savings account until I decide to do a bit a of travelling again.

New iPhone and MacBook Pro. Would still try to sell the old Windows laptop as I don't like not making some money back no matter how much I'd have.

The rest would be kept away until those things needed upgraded or anything out of the blue pops up.

Is having any savings in a bank account or isa at this time 2010 very risky because of the chance of a much bigger bank collapse in the near future due to the struggling economy in the Uk or do you take the chance?
