What would you do with £6,000?

If I had to spend that amount and could get the time off work i would travel for 6 months. Thailand, vietnam, cambodia, laos

Otherwise I would buy a new TV for £500, put 3k into an ISA and keep the rest in bank for new clothes/nights out

I had about 6K in my bank account, had a company car, stable job and was slowly saving up for a flat deposit (as I wouldnt be able to afford a house!).

I was single after a breakup, hated the job despite the car as it was an hours commute each way to the office in heavy traffic and as a result I used to get home stressed and late at night. People said I was lucky to have a stable job and car, but I was utterly bored of living in a city and hated living away for work in London and wherever I was sent by the company for weeks at a time. I decided there must be more to life than getting up at 6am and getting back at 7pm each night unless I was living away in hotels! I tried for a few months to find work somewhere else but gave up in the end as all the work seemed to be around the London area and I wanted to live somewhere quieter.

People were horrified but I quit! I grabbed a work visa and headed abroad and haven't looked back since. I now have a great Kiwi girlfriend, live 5 minutes from work and right next to the sea so have taken up surfing. The weather is fab, I no longer have to deal with traffic jams and I've made loads of friends since arriving. It's the best move I ever did and I'm currently in the process of applying for residency to stay forever!

I now drive a crappy old Honda Prelude with rust spots, but haven't been happier! Can't believe I waited so long to just quit and give it a go because people kept saying it was a bad idea to quit a stable job.

pay all of my debts off and still haev time for a jolly good time, if paying debts off is deemed too boring or not what you were after just read, have a jolly good time!

Good for you man. Awesome story. Have been getting itchy feet myself recently.

What kind of work have you found out there? Do you need to be skilled in order to work and to be considered for permanent residency? Tell us more!

I dont understand how people can say 6k is nothing these days. It is a hell of a lot of money to have just lying around for a lot of people.
