What's an emo?

nope, but id like to know who speaks to emo and has emo friends?...just to see.

I have a "scene" freidn as youve classified here but she dressed like she dressed way before "scene" was a thing, so does that make her scene? I think not chums!!! My brother is turning into what I thought was emo but he corrected me and said he was trying to mix the trends to become some hybrid of emo and skater (he looks kinda cool if you ask me) at least he doesnt go around trying to slit his wrists (i hope). I have one friend that is no way emo but has the side parting swish of hair, i wear band tops and am not emo, or anything for that matter. Once you have attracted a girl (that is why you become part of a scene to get to know people with the same interests) you grow out of your "must fit in" stage and evolve into something much better!!!!!

Um ive kinda run out of stuff to say and lost myself and do not know why i am writing this, oh yeah maybe its becuase everyone is soo bloody judgemental!!!!!!!!!!!!

In high school i wore baggy jeans and a hoody what did that make me? I dont wear the jeans anymore (realised how baggy they were) but i still wear the hoody (it so cosy) i dont know where that was leading....

Pft.

There is a difference between scene emo and emo. I hate threads like this and generally the way people label things. 'Emo' is now the new 'Chav' and it's pathetic in my eyes.

Aiden are gothic punk and along with bands like Underoath and BFMV can be labelled as 'emo' music. There is a new wave of 'scene emo' arrising with bands such as Panic! At The Disco and The Academy Is... Notice the differences in both the sound and dress style with bands like Aiden. Notice a difference?

Apparently i'm 'Emo' because i like my hair in a side sweeping style and yes i straighten it. My music speaks for itself ^

How can emo and chav be the same thing? Chavs (or scemeys as other parts of the country call them) are very different from what ive seen "emos" to be. One more thing are you emo or are you an emo? (in general not towards you)

People have become obsessed with the word 'Chav' and now 'Emo' is part of our language. That's all i meant, sorry if i was unclear.

Am i emo? I don't call myself but the evidence supporting include my taste in music, going to college dressing like someone out of Panic! At The Disco, owning a pair of Vans Slip-Ons which sounds minor but in this day and age, people can 'name you' by the make of the clothes. I straighten my fringe covering which covers half my face with the sides pushed forward. And no, i don't have a pair of tight jeans...

'Suspected' emo friends

Notice the not all black approach

When did this development and revelation in social society take place!?

One word, Burberry. What's the next word you think of?

dunno mentions the baggy jeans, maybe made by Criminal Damage or Bennys which links to 'Skater' so people can automatically assume he is a skater or something along those lines.

I would say emo is punk mixed with goth.
ITS A MUTATION I TELL THEE!!!!

Or

EMO= Eat My Overies (its the best most depresing thing i could think of  ) :p

I wouldnt really. Its very rare to see a burbery chav in Ireland tbh. At least round my way.

That's again why this whole 'Emo/Scene Emo' arguement changes so much. It depends on the location also. I have friends all over the place and the word 'Emo' to them is sometimes unheard of. Best definiton i have is a less extreme goth.

Back to using 'Chav' as an example. It is quite a new word in our language. They've had many 'titles' including 'Townie' which was what described those sort of people when i used in NE London.

That's what bands like Aiden can be labelled as. And i do call them gothic punk, not a genre called 'Emo'.

Very true. Emo is basically goth in Ireland. No ifs or buts, emo/scene=goth. Punk/Metal=skater
