What's an emo?

Ah but 15 years ago there were no "emos" - so as far as I'm concerned it's still ok to like it ;)
Emo as a music genre did exist 15 years ago, as did the styles they adopted.

Where did I say emo's hate the world?

Emo's hate themselves and this is a genric fact. Emo's wouldn't be where they are if we didn't hate them too. This is strange that the argument was spawned from a debate about what scene kiddies are.

Get back to me when you've grown out of it Neon. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Since when? The term 'emos' has come about as a style has emerged more recently that many have adopted, not because of self-harm or any other idiotic reasoning you may try and pin to it. There are a fair few bands that are listened to throughout the people that adopt the same styles, but mostly they're extremely varied and more open than most of the people I've met.

Grown out of it, ohh dear. So what if people are into this style now, who are you to judge them? If anything, your refusal to accept people as they are in their younger years is more obnoxious and conformist than anything. They're just having fun, they don't need morons telling them they need to grow up.

Look, emo's annoy me because they're all generic pawns conforming to the same stereotype. They think they're individuals, but they're all the same. Why is dressing your own way and not the way of the rest of the generation such a crime?

Look mate, the majority of emo's in my book atm are all 15-16 and that's a very impressionable age. It just goes to show, emo's are misguided teenagers. It's a phase, and a stupid one at that. You, and the rest of the emo population will grow out of it in time, especially when your hormones level out.
So what? Who are you to judge them? Why is dressing in a particular style so offensive to you? Leave people alone, they didn't ask for you to bother them.

In your book, in my experience you're wrong, they tend to start around 14 yeah, but the majority from experience is 17 - 21.

So what? Leave them alone for them to grow out of it then. All teenagers are misguided to a point, and you're in the wrong criticising them for being young.

Look mate, stop getting arsey. I'd pick an emo over a chav anyday. We're just explaining what your little scene really is from an outsiders point of view. If you don't like it, then it's tough titty.

Have you not realised you're the only one defending your point of view? It's not exactly as if everyone else is jumping on the bandwagon here.
I'd say it's mainly because no one else can be arsed to argue with such silly and irrational people. There's just you and one or two others arguing against him - know why? Because it's much less likely there'll be 'emos' or those related to that particular scene on here, it's a much broader spectrum of people.

I seriously don't know where people get the idea that a 'scene kid' is different to an 'emo kid'...

I've said it before... Emo kids are part of the emo scene hence are scene kids. That's all a scenester is, someone who's all about their little scene, whatever that may be.

I disagree. I always thought a scenester was someone who changes themselves to fit into whatever scene is trendy at that particular time. Whether its emo, or indie.. whatever. It might be ska soon, who knows? But there will be scenesters who will change their fashion and music taste to fit.

i see them everywhere, wondering what's next
and i think it's kind of fun seein' them walk around downtown
and they got the new band records
and they want everyone to check 'em

want everyone to see that they did it first
want everyone to know
want everyone to care
but it's fun when we don't care, so i tell them like this

oh no, oh no, here we go again
it's the life of the perfect scenester

and now they listen to emotional music
when they used to like PUNKROCK
or maybe now they like chump rock
and swore they never liked punk
and they always talk about shows
but i never see 'em
and when i do they're just bummin'
still haven't figured out that

and we just can't wait for what they got next

and they do it for the girls
yes they do it for the girls
but it's all the wrong girls in control of them
don't worry about anyone else
the best people are themselves
and we don't think you know yourself

But clearly there are a hell of a lot of emo kids who are scenesters, as there are indie kids at the moment! :)

Exactly.. maybe my wording was a little off, but yeah, the little emo kids who take the fashion really far, with ****ing stupid hair that doesn't fit through doors, and take the tight jeans so seriously to the point of it actually being hilarious to look at them... those are scenesters. And round here at least, many many many of the emo kids are just that. Soon as the trend changes so will all these bods.

I think what he is trying to say is that acting diferently, dressing diferently and doing things you normally wouldnt just to fit in is pretty pathetic.

Ah, I see where this is leading.

You're a scene kid, you wear your sister's trousers, right?

But what if they have a fat sister...?

Not really, I don't have any problem with fitting in. It just makes me laugh that they tend to follow the fashions so so closely, mini trends here sprout up in a matter of days, then are gone again. It just makes me giggle a bit. Plus a lot of them here take it way too far, they all look like Richey Edwards at the moment.

Im sure the kids will look back and be embarassed by some of their antics.

I find it funny how teenagers have become more and more dramatic. Every little thing is like the end of the world.

Hey im still baffled by people calling it "Alternative" and "Different"

Any light?

Alternative's been a word used to describe that side of culture for years and years. It's just an alternative to the mainstream, really.

I suppose I'd say I was alternative, but I wouldn't particularly say I was all that different, I look like a ton of people who are at half the places I go to. And I don't care.

No, I wear normal black trousers, River Island jean things or shorts. Why?
