What's the last album you listened to?

I listen to a fair few on the way and back from work. The last "new" album I've listened to is Kasabian - Velociraptor!

I'd give it a 6.5/10. If you like Kasabian then you'll definitely like it but just seems like its Kasabian by the numbers, doesn't really stand out on its own like previous albums do.

I always go back to old(er) albums that passed me by when growing up before I gained a decent musical interest that went beyond my dads Whitesnake records and Busted.

The Hives - Veni Vidi Vicious (Rock)

Brilliant album, could really do with this kinda production and sound nowadays. I miss the quick, simple and to-the-point songs of days gone by. Really a good counteract and breath of fresh air in the over-produced, over-prepared ProTools society we are constantly fed.

Rise against - Endgame 6/10

Been out for a while but only just got a chance to have a proper listen through. Another great album from them I must say, but still not on par with...

Agreed, since Sufferer I think Tim's just found a songwriting formula that's works and is easy but it's not pushing creativity. I mean I don't expect him to re-invent what is a brilliant hardcore band but It'd be nice for them to work around in that box of punk rock and push it about a little more rather than writing the same song over, and over again. Brilliant vocals and melodies on this album though, has to be said.

Had a little splurge recently so have mostly been listening to:

Amaseffer - Slaves to life
Good album but some of the songs drag a little bit.

Lacuna Coil - Shallow life (Tour edition)

A decent album but not a patch on their early stuff (Unleashed memories / Comalies / EP). I do however like the second CD which contains fantastic acoustic versions of some of the tracks.

Nightwish - Dark Passion Play (LTD)

I hate the "new" singer; utter dross compared to Tarja, but the orchestral second CD is fantastic.

Trivium - In Waves

I only like "In waves" so this was a slight mistake.

The American Dollar's 'Memory Stream' : beautifully atmospheric and perfect background for both workplace concentration and contemplative relaxation.

Emika - Emika

Heard 'drop the other' on the radio years ago and loved it, albums a bit hit and miss but really feeling the dark vibe!
Standout track : 3 hours
