What's the most expensive meal you've bought?

I remember forking out over £300 for my half of the bill at the Waterside Inn at Bray. It was for my dad's retirement, and my old sister (who was paying the other half) forced me to have the fish menu as otherwise it would have unbalanced the bill at the end. £300 for a meal that I wouldn't have eaten if I was paid too.

I did go to Claridges with work though. Seven of us round the table, including wine/alcohol it came to over £3,000.

Edit - the Claridges bill was picked up by work! should probably point that out - no way I could afford that

Not that much compared to most of you - Lasan in Birmingham (the Indian restaurant which won Gordon Ramsey's best local restaurant award), about £35 a head.

Absolutely exceptional food though. Not at all what I expected, but it was great. It wasn't like food I'd ever seen anywhere else, which made it seem worthwhile.

It's amazing how much a thread like this says about a person :D

I take it that you liken this thread to some kind of willy waving competition, rather than just a general here is a question provide an answer.

This thread would suck if everyone were modest and answered "£15 on a KFC bucket". :D

No not at all. It's quite interesting to see peoples attitudes to spending. Some are so tight they have never spent more than 24 quid on a meal, others spend hundreds of quid despite almost being bankrupt (Cause or effect?), some think £200 on food isn't much, others think its a fortune, etc :)
