What's the most expensive meal you've bought?

Is this a single meal for one person, or for many people?

If it's the former, no idea - most expensive restaurant I've been to is probably Rhodes24 or Pur in Switzerland. Both were under £100.

If it's the latter, then probably the lunch and dinner at my wedding (50 guests for the former, 350 for the latter). I can't remember how much it was, each time I try a little portcullis comes down over that bit of my memory preventing me from remembering.

:(

The most i've paid for us 2 is about £75 for everything. I have been to one restaurant (Smiths of Smithfield) where the meal came to £81 per head. Fortunately gramps was paying.

I paid £272 (plus an absolutely ridiculous tip, of an amount which I will not disclose) for my and my ex-girlfriend to enjoy the tasting menu at Le Quat'Saisons. That was with no alcohol (I was driving, not a cheepskate).

I was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. The service was, for lack of a better word, perfect. And when I say perfect, I do actually mean, perfect. The food was mind blowing in every sense of the word. I'd been working as a chef for the best part of a year and a half, and was just getting to grips with food and such, but it absolutely blew my mind, it was so delicious. There were nine courses, with an option of a cheese course, which would obviously be tenth, which we declined.

The experience was so good, that I couldn't believe my eyes when I got the bill for £272, I was convinced it would be twice as much. That was probably the reason for the tip, looking back.

Most expensive meal i cant remember, but the most rediculously priced meal was $58 for 2 sandwiches and some cokes at the Carnegie Deli in New York

They did look like this though

I've eaten there before as well and the food is amazing, I've also been to a 3 star michelin rated places (Le Manoir is 2 star) but the food at Le Manoir was better imo. I'd definitely go back there to eat!

Please tell us how much :D.
A bottle of Moet (bog standard, £28 in sainsburys) was £150 (Thailand has a 400% import tax on wine/champagne!!)

It was around £1.2k for 5 people, so not toooo bad for the sheer quality once you take away the cost of alcohol. I guess in London that would be about average for a top-end restaurant but in Thailand, after spending £6.40 on food+drink for 5 at the street markets, it kinda restored our average meal cost!

We didn't go for the £xx,xxx (something like £20,000) bottle of Petrus :D

The most expensive meal I've actually bought I believe was about £100 for two of us at a lovely little place called the tickled trout in west Farleigh (Kent). I don't begrudge forking out money if it's a good night.

I'd love to be able to go to some of the places you guys have gone however I am only a youngster so I shall have to wait a while yet.

I paid £6 for a tea and a kit-kat on my thompson flight last week.

harsh lol

I've paid for a family meal before, including drinks in a good local chinese restaraunt and the bill was just short of £200 for 6 of us. To be fair though, we ate more than 20 people would have :D

We had the muscle starter at least 10 times upto the point where the chef just brought out a very late plate with loads of them on as he couldn't be arsed to keep putting 7/8 on the small plates for us lol.

Never paid more than £50 for 2 of us yet though...

£50 up to now, so some way behind some of you! I wouldn't even say it was the best meal I've had- some of my personal favourites have cost £20-£40. Having said that, I plan on dining out at higher class establishments much more often in future and don't have any qualms about dropping decent sums on food (If I was earning more it'd be different. But price doesn't always strongly correlate with enjoyment.
