What's the most expensive meal you've bought?

I'm tempted to go buy one of these for £100

I'd probably feel stupid spending over say £50 for myself if I were to eat out.

For the fact it is probably wasted on me. I used to eat bacon grill sandwiches! A rib eye from the supermarket is good enough for me.

As for wine, I'd be the idiot that pretends to try and know what wine is better because its more expensive. Nah, a pint thanks.

I lived with someone who was so pretentious about food. Even a cup of tea wasn't good enough unless it was tea and cakes for £30 or something.

Food is like music, some people just take it too seriously :)

The best food I've eaten was at Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir. £130 each for the 12 course taster meal excluding a different wine for each course. Stunning food! It was our 1st anniversary so worth every penny to us.
Last night we ate at Tristan Welch's Launceston Place. That was £200 for the fabulous 6 course taster.
Chez Bruce, which is down the road from us, was not as nice as we were hoping. Lunch was about £150.

The best value for money meal was at the Steak & Wine Company in Johannesburg - £8 for an amazing 400g sirloin steak.

I think it was £60 for a kobe beef teppenyaki meal in Kobe. Truley excellent though.

Puts things into perspective a bit when I spent £32 on lunch at YoSushi! in Milton Keynes a few weeks ago...

Probably about £200 at Deanes in Belfast for two. Food was nice, but MUCH prefer the Tannery Steak House in Moira where for the two of us last weekend for three courses was half that price and twice as nice!

its ridiculous in the uk we are charged a fortune for what you can get in america for really cheap.

you cant even get nice big home made steaks with home made rubs , homemade marinade , homemade everything over here even if you have the money!

when i was in america my stepson got a tbone steak for less than you would spend on a dominoes pizza!

That is why americans are fat :o

Most expensive purchased was £300 but that included wine and champagne, the food came to around £150.

Most expensive quoted was $1200aud per person for the Shangri La in Sydney (overlooks the harbour bridge) on New Years Eve, needless to say we didnt bother and just had a few bottles of wine down the harbour with the rest of the rabble! :D

Probably either the meal we had on our wedding night or the one on the anniversary the year after.

Not huge amounts of money but both were probably £150 for the 2 of us (was in the US and were about $300 at the time).

So not a lot, but then I don't drink which keeps it down.
