What's the opposite to an electric blanket?

if you get an aircon be warned, they exhaust hot air, And the Window attachments don't work with most Uk windows.

What i was forced to do was make a vent hole into the loft and then from loft to outside (like a bathroom extractor)
I then attached the Aircon Exhaust to the vent into the loft.

This way the room gets cold with all windows closed :)

I use mine for my office in the summer, will cool it down to a nice 14c if required.

Having lived for 25+yrs where the average night temp is close to 30 most nights of the year and air con was considered a luxury for the rich, my advice is cotton sheets and a fan. Place the fan so it's not directly hitting you in the face. I don't think air con will get cold enough to what you want anyway?

Sleep on the floor downstairs. Don't forget to bark at any strange noises though.

Ok, apart from completely misdirecting us with the temp.... what is the INDOOR temp you struggle to be comfortable with?

What you seem to be trying to do is cope with the symptoms of a water tank rather than tackle the cause. As someone already mentioned, insulating the water tank and it space it's housed in will help.

1) Do you have radiators? If so, get a thermostatic valve for you radiator in that room, and basically turn it right down or completely off.

2) Open the window.

3) Turn off PC at night.

4) Not have the water tank running at night? (dependent on the type of water tank system though)

5) Move room?

I have a waterbed, in the winter i turn the heat up so its toasty, but in the summer i turn it off and it is then cool to sleep on, so the best of both worlds, its not a cheap solution, but something for you to look into long term :)

There must be something medically wrong with someone who cant sleep at temps above 10C surely????

Even an aircon will only chill down to 16 or 18 degrees. If you really have problems i would suggest something cheap and cheerful as a way to cool down, at least enough to get you off to sleep.
Try having a fan on medium speed and a spray bottle of water. A quick spray of water over yourself and the fan will make you feel much cooler.

1)aquire many tubes of thermal paste
2)apply to body
3) replace fridge door with metal slab
4)lay fridge on back
5)enjoy the most uncomfortable night of your life

But at least you'll be cool.

that sounds horrible, but yes, you would be very very cool :p

Hah I'm not talking about soaking yourself. Just a fine mist would be sufficient. Some of the pubs/outdoor events here do big fans with built in water misting to help keep people cool in the hot weather and it easier and cheaper to cool the skin than it is to cool a room
