I saw the bitters and thought "he must be oop north", then spotted you're in Sheffield. Kellam Island do some top notch brews.

Jaipur is superb - must get round to visiting the brewery in Bakewell

Timmy Taylor Landlord is always worth a pint when found on tap.

The Purple Moose Brewery does a very nice dark ale called Dark Side Of the Moose

hmm, so many choices.

In general Tyskie and Stella (Stella more for historical reasons - I drank it when young a lot to get ****ed, and still like it)

Summer choices would be corona, hoegaarden (in fact any weiss beer) and desperados

Staropramen and Peroni are also great pints in the pub.

And I quite like a bottle of bud when studying, quite light.

Absolutetly hate Carlsberg - probably the worst beer in the world.

I am an Ale man through and through. After growing up in Devon and going to uni in Cornwall it is the only thing to drink in a pub.

Skinners Brewery (Truro) make some absolutly stunning beers. They sell all over Cornwall and some are gorgeous.

Betty Stoggs
Betty's Big Sister
Knocker
Heligan Honey

All amazing beers that each have a unique characteristic. They also make a rather tasty lager too which is always nice as a bit of a change.

Other ales on my top list are...

Doombar
Sharps Special
Old Speckled Hen
Tribute
Proper Job

Badger Brewery - They have some amazing summer ales. Elderflower being just one example. But in the sun you can really enjoy them, light and juicy.

Exmoore Beast - Time and a place for this beer. Not something i could drink heavily, but it is a very nice 'mid' drinking pint, if you fancy something different. It is about 6.2% and very full bodied.

Anything brewed by the Otter Brewery. They make some lovely stronger ales that are tasty.

My local brewery 'Country Life Brewery' have another interesting selection. These can only be found in North Devon. Old Appledore, Potwallop and Laceys Best plus a few others i cant remember.

Funny thing is, i am now living in Germany, where lets say the ale selection is rather different!

I am fond of some of the wheet beers over here, and also i do like foreign lagers. As someone stated before Haufbrau has to be up there with one of the best lagers in the world. Incredible from Munich.

Perroni, Strapponnen and the usual 'main land' continental beers that we can see and find in British supermarkets.

Hamburg where i am now has a nice lager too called Astra, but i find it is only drinkable at certain times. It is a going out beer for sure. Not great with a meal.

Anyway yes, i like my beer!

Jsut to say, Doombar is probably my favourite pint, just to clarify my whole topic. I find it an amazing pint, that isn't too complex and can be enjoyed in any situation.

Delirium Tremens has to be the best I can remember having. I prefer it to Rochefort. Duvel is another cracker and is easy to find. I quite like most wheat beers (Weihenstephan in particular), and also love Badger Blandford Fly.

Hoegaarden Grand Cru is another very good one, but annoyingly hard to find these days.

It's got to be Westmalle Dubbel, it's dark red in colour with hints of chocolate... I could waffle on but I'll just say it tastes sublime. At 7.0% it's a bit strong so when I'm after a session beer I like Red Stripe (not the best beer but it's simple, drinkable and lacks the chemical tang of most commercial lagers), or Asahi Premium which is a lovely, crisp, very drinkable beer that would be great for a barbecue.

I had this beer once, was belgian I think. Had it in a restaurant called cafe belge in Canterbury, it came out in a rounded bottom glass so it couldn't sit directly on the table but it had like a little wooden trophy holder for it. Can't think what it was called but that was beautiful as well. Couldn't drink too many for a 'session', but was lovely and smooth with dinner.

EDIT: It wasn't Kwak by the way, google image searches have led me to think that that glass and stand is pretty impressive though.

Oh, another beer which I completely forgot about, Asahi Black. I remember when I was in Japan a few years ago I went to a "beer garden" which was basically like a all you can eat/drink affair, for something silly like £15. Needless to say we all had a rather good time. :)

Miller is actually rather nice, it's the best of a bad bunch when it comes to American lagers, I tend to go for Coors or MGD when I'm state side. But if I have a choice of American beer I'd go with Siera Nevada or Sam Adams.... I even found a place that sold Sam Smiths Taddy Porter in Tucson, AZ of all places! That was a nice little taste of home, was even brewed in Taddcaster too, so it was the real deal.

I don't drink much ale these days, but when I do Timothy Taylor's Landlord bitter is the business.
Any of the Czech lagers seem pretty good, and Budvar or Pilsner Urquell are good bets.

Honourable mentions to just about anything from Fullers or Goachers, or anything Belgian.

Favourite beer(s)

Well, in no particular order:

'Flat' Bass - Daves on Midland Rd Derby serves about the best you'll find anywhere.

Marstons pedigree - 'From the Jug' Andy at the travellers serves the best anywhere.

Been mentioned already, but Timothy Taylors Landlord is very nice as a starter when going on a bender. You'll find no better place than the Brewery Tap for that ( Part of derby brewing comp)

Just so many beers to pick which is my favourite, one of the better things of living in Derby is the mass of real ale pubs (Dolphin, Seven Stars, Grey Hound et el) micro breweries (Brunswick, falstaff et el) Plus a good selection of bars and chain pubs.

Do like some of the belgium beers, ****** springs to mind
