Whats your Game of the Year so far?

Doom & FH3 for me. BF1 unfortunately has just too many walking for 2 seconds and your sniped, shot or blown up. OK I get its realism but I just can't handle it !

Must be the first year I have not bought any games. Nothing has grabbed me at all :(

Still busy with elite, dirty bomb and the odd thing in the steam library.

Sad state of the gaming industry.
Dont confuse your own bafflingly picky preferences with 'the state of the gaming industry'. There's been TONS of amazing games this year.

Where have you been??? I'd say it's been even better then last year and that's saying something!

Tough question though... Firewatch floored me earlier this year and I still think about it now.

I had to be weaned off of Stardew Valley with crack.

Dark Souls 3 was especially great.

Uncharted 4... well, Naughty Dog. I need say no more!

Overwatch was, still is and will continue to be one of the best shooters to have graced our hardware.

Superhot was a really nice surprise.

Abzu too!

Too many to name!

Unchartered 4 was my favourite game of the year so far but not on PC

on PC it was Xcom 2. a different type of game and quite a lot of fun

the division was OK but got bored quick

I like the idea behind the witcher and it looks great, but I have never liked the combat system (roll/parry/slash yawn) and skill tree in this series. wish there were different classes and more in depth skill tree (poorest and uninspiring abilities I have seen in any RPG). also crafting was meh

It was a 2015 release any way :P

Also, be careful... I've known people castrated for less then insulting the Witcher 3 xD

I've completed Doom & now Shadow Warrior 2 which I wasn't even considering until I read some reviews.

Maybe if I complete X-COM 2 I'll add that to the list too.

Doom has been the best though.

My GOTY is Metal Gear Solid V Phantom Pain. Loved every minute of it. Great engine non stop action good story (IMO). yeah its not the perfect MGS story and was missing a chapter but it was so well done and great fun.

Rise of The Tomb Raider
DOOM
Starwars Battlefront

Also a shout for the remastered Bioshock games as I played them for the first time this year. Awesome games.

mISSED FIREWATCH, ill give that a go

For me, by a long shot Hitman 2016.

A lot of people have been put off by the episodic content (I was a bit sceptical at first). It turned out to be a fantastic idea. If this had been released in one go most people would have played each mission once or twice and blast through the story in 8 hours or so.

But with releasing it this way I've played through all the challenges, escalations and timed elusive targets on each level as they've come out, giving me at least 30 hours in each mission. Every time a new one comes out it's like getting a new game. Slowly watching the plot play out over months has been (and I never though I'd say it) far more enjoyable than finishing it in a couple of days.

The first mission came out 7 months ago, and I'm still hooked waiting for the last one to drop in six days time. While I like all the games mentioned so far not many of them have entertained me for more than month.

With this I've about 200 hours play time with more to come. I'd even put this in my top 5 games of all time.

Got to be Battlefield 1, I haven't really played that many games from this year tbf.

DOOM
Starwars Battlefront

How did you enjoy Battlefront? When I played it I got bored after 12 hours just because of the limited content.

Yeah the single player modes are a waste of time but I love the multiplayer modes. It feels like Star Wars. It's also the first time I've bothered with online multiplayer FPS games so a new experience for me and had to work my way up from finishing in the bottom 3 in terms of the points table at the end of each round to the top half of the table. It's so competitive that each kill I get is really satisfying. Maybe the novelty will wear off after a while but it's all new for me. I usually start my daily gaming session with a few rounds of Battlefront - I love how can just pick it up and play for half hour. I've put 71 hours into it so far.

Not a great year for me but my top three are as follows (unlikely to change either given what remains for the rest of 2016)

1. Dark Souls 3 - Put 120+ hours into this, and still feels great to just pick up and play. Challenging, some great boss fights, and some very nice areas. I even liked the swamp and catacombs.

2. Uncharted 4 - Wouldn't be in a top three most years but this year there's little to choose from. Actually this turned out better than I anticipated. Started slowly, and the last few combat-heavy chapters dragged it down a little, but chapters 6 through to around 16 were almost perfect. Oh, and it looks gorgeous too.

3. Forza Horizon 3 - Love this series, and this one is the best of the lot. Put many hours into this one too, and I just never seem to tire of it. Again, gorgeous looking game; especially on PC, and there's simply a ton of stuff to do. Enjoyed every second I've spent on this.

Not much else has grabbed my attention, but shouts to Doom, Salt & Sanctuary, and Ratchet & Clank as those were easily the best of the rest. Gears Of War 4 could have been but the campaign was over way too soon, and I don't care for multiplayer.
