Over 8400 miles (since May-ish) I have an average of 44.03mpg from a 1.4 Peugeot 307.
I feel that its' good for the car but not actually good in real world.

However, I don't see the point in changing just yet as any MPG savings would be countered by the cost of the new vehicle.

Hopefully, I'll do less miles to work soon and then mpg won't really be a factor.

I run a chipped Lupo 1.4 TDI. At over 100bhp and 250NM torque it's no slouch and get just over 70mpg average on my daily 50 mile round commute. It can maintain over 55 in busy stop-start town traffic and 2-weeks back I did a run from London to Birmingham and got 83.7 average over the trip of 142 miles :D.

That's very impressive. What year is your car?

2002, and it ain't no beast but the kick you get in some ways is just as satisfying as when I drove my old CRX SiR. Even though it had almost double the power, it had less torque than the lupo which counts for something when faced with coming out of turns or faced with hills.

2.2 Honda Civic diesel. Generally get 46mpg+ average on all journeys. I drive 21 miles each way to work and do long trips regularly.

30.0 according to the trip computer on a 3.0Si Z4 Coupe. I can quite easily average 34 if I drive in the appropriate manner, which is pretty good for a 3.0 petrol.

Hopefully I'll be getting mid-40's on my soon-to-be 330D.

last tank, 24mpg, and thats only cos i went home so it got to plod along motorway for the vast majority of it. Usually between 14 and 18, damn hills/town driving

Now that I've graduated to something with a rather more poke than my ol' Clio, I can now join the sub 31mpg club.

It's not really the right car for 14 mile round trip commutes, but once I get her used to more expensive fuel and run the motorways a few times, things might improve.

I get from about 33-35mpg although i can get higher sometimes depends on what roads im driving on and that's from my 07 plate fiesta ST

Question: is it inevitable that we will all be driving diesels in the next 5-10 years?

Nope. For a lot of people they'll work out just as expensive if not moreso to run than an equivalent petrol.

For some strange reason, the 330D is costing me £200 more to insure than a 330i and just under £100 more than the Z4.

But people don't seem to realise this. I bet the vast majority of people who buy a diesel car do less than 12k miles a year.

It just seems like absolutely no one is buying new petrol cars at the moment, and therefore there will be next to none in the used market in the next few years.

What have you got now?

who are the 3 people who get less than 10mpg on average!??! and what is your average drive?!?!

Even my E60 M5 would scape 10-12mpg when only being driven around London. Had a Cayenne Turbo for a week once and that was around 9.5mpg in London traffic. Even my friends Viper would manage quite a bit more than 10 if it got out of London, I think it was about 8-9 in town.

Don't have a trip computer in my car, but via the gift of maths I reckon I'm averaging around 29mpg in my 1.8 A3.

Mostly town driving though. I've had over 500 miles from a tank when driving a round trip to Southampton.
