When are you going fully electric?

Keep an eye on servicing costs though. More gouging. It’s why I keep looking at a Taycan - then deciding ‘no-chance’ even thought they should be much cheaper electric servicing seems to still be as expensive as ever….

i am in a related predicament myself......... the warranty on my ipace is about to run out..... and the price of renewal has gone up £300... but also on top of that the HEVRA garage around the corner from me has said they can look after the servicing of my car for probably half the main dealer price - but i think if i go with the extended warranty i have to use main dealer servicing (not certain on that tho and will be looking into it)

I think the taycans are even worse on depreciation. I'm sure I saw a turbo (not an s, but still) for silly money a few weeks ago.

Did my first reasonable journey this weekend, from Farnborough to MK and then back home, having visited a friend.

Left Farnborough with 100%, did a bit of driving up there, quick 10% top up when I left and then got back with 27%. Quite happy with that.

Averaged 4.1 m/kWh

Public charging was fine but the BP Pulse app is shocking. It logs me out every time I enable a charging session. I subbed to it as I was given a free trial to their premium sub for cheaper rates, which was handy, but I wouldn’t continue using it.

Even basic things like they asked to choose from Charger 1, 2, 3 or 4 on the app, but the chargers were A, B, C, D at the site, from right to left

Did a “quick” top up at a BP from 22% to 77% when I went out for food last night (again signed me out) and it cost me £30 for ~155 miles, which would make it very expensive if I were using fast public chargers all the time.

Would also be a bit of a hassle as the ID 7 didn’t charge all that quickly, so it was in effect an additional 40 mins I had to find in my evening to do it (about 35 mins to charge and 5 mins faffing on the app to keep me logged in).

Wasn’t a horrific experience though and my main takeaway was how efficient the ID 7 was during that journey. Very handy being able to do 300+ miles in 8 degrees on motorways on a single charge.

Well my Model 3 is throwing up VCFront_a192 warning (Electrical system is unable support all features) which has been further diagnosed as a suspected high voltage external isolation issue with further investigation required (No combined a182 12V battery warning detected). Now booked in on 28th Nov which is the earliest date I could get at my local service center. Slight fly in the ointment being its booked in for an MoT this Sat.

All do-able just another thing to fit into my overcrowded brain (too much going on atm). Funnily enough the warning has now gone... for now.

Ionic now doing double commute duties whilst this gets resolved.

Well... darn..

Are they legally allowed to insist you use the main dealer for servicing to keep your warranty in tact? I thought that was against EU law (which we still follow).

not 100% sure. I always thought so long as they used approved parts you could go anywhere but was told elsewhere this is not the case. so........

it is a great looking car and from what i have heard (never had the privilege to drive one) a joy to drive.

looks wise only however........... i genuinely prefer the big cat next to it (but i am biased :D )

My octopus account has been a bit weird last few days. It didn't do a meter reading so I did one manually and it said it was higher than expected. I looked at the previous automated reading which didn't tie up with that month's usage so was too low. The manual readings o took yesterday have generated a bill for gas but not for electricity.

Also if I look at yesterday's consumption the chart is all weird and it's reading way too high.

I've noticed that they have been taking extra time to correctly calculate the cost based on my usage. So usage will show up in my account at the peak rate and then additional IO slots are calculated later (many many hours later) and the cost adjusted down.

was it pre-conditioned to get the charge going at a high power from the outset ? (does it record/tell you what the peak charge rate was)

if you are charging a car couldn't a 36kw total of car + domestic, be feasible ?

Yes feasible in general, but not yesterday as the car was only charged 17 kWh across Sunday night and early Monday morning, according to zappi, and that ties in with how much battery was left when I plugged the car in Sunday evening. Other usage will be a few kWh only.
