When are you going fully electric?

would you get the juniper Y ordering now ... does your wife like their spartan cabin ambiance cozy
has scenic got the electric mirror like megane, that was a negative for me as a varifocal user
I'll keep checking to see if it switches over, just the current model ATM which may explain rogue pricing. Arval portal is all over the place though.

The maths I need to do is whether getting a pre-April car to miss lux tax is worth it (I'll pay ~£900 in fees but save £380x3). I need to reduce my salary next tax year, so dream sitchy would be late March registered, early April delivery, £900fee May's payslip. Arval lacks competence to do this though unfortunately :(

Secured a Model Y Long Range / AWD today for £800 gross monthly sacrifice, presuming delivery is pre 31st December the years free supercharging should apply too. Free charger via Octopus etc.

Much sooner than I expected to transition to EV though circumstances and my commute changed earlier this year and whilst affordability was not a concern parting ways with the M3 after 3 years of trouble free ownership was the right (but rather boring) decision :(

Hoeflation. My born is 34k p11d and 505 gross. Bargain motoring, even if you don’t have a light up heater control.

Anyway it’s an EV. Who puts on heaters when u can just wear a coat

This post is ambidextrous. Please don't confirm M3 as in BMW or M3 as in Model 3.

Base model or boost? Base is now 36k p11d

The coat comment reminds me an EV I passed on the M1 the other day, dripping with condensation inside lol.

Unfortunately I don't have details as to why but there were plans at work to move around a quarter of our fleet to EV from October just gone which have been put on indefinite hold. I think one of the complications is that though the EV options could cover a significant portion of usage they can't comprehensively stand in for the full range of usages that all the current diesels can and we need overlap to cover for when a vehicle is out of action, etc. where you have to go with what happens is available on standby.

That and they've just spanked commercial EVs with road tax haven't they?

It will likely be boring coming from an M3, but its a pleasure to drive. I wanted the MY Performance, but they wasn't selling them in the UK at the time so had to get the LR AWD with inductions but I paid for acceleration boost to give it that edge, it was a noticeable boost. If you were minded to do it, you can get a full refund within a day or two of use to see if you like it.

Nobody will make a decision on multi thousand pound vehicles and having to pay a vehicle tax.
On what basis?

10 EV vans have just increased from £0 to £3.5k/year. The fact the vehicle is more expensive in the first place and all the downsides of EV w.r.t to range, charging anxiety etc. It is another material issue that needs to be overlooked.

I know that fleets are ****** off because its all over LinkedIn.

Just realised the Ford has some of the capacitive touch garbage from VW so Scenic at the top of the list now :D

One of the worst things about the ID.3. Just a terrible idea. They have been improved in the latest models, including basics like backlighting for the heat and volume controls IIRC, but it's still poor. You'd have to find it a lot more annoying that I do to think that's a deal breaker, though, especially when you compare to a Tesla doing stuff like not having a binnacle and getting rid of the wiper and indicator controls on stalks.

That’s like giving up a iPhone cause it doesn’t have 8210 buttons. People just can’t adapt so make out the tech is stupid…

Nope, it's just plain bad. It's not a question of adapting, it's a question of the technology being substantially worse to use. Less ergonomic, more fiddly, and as a result requires more of your attention to use. Take a trivial thing like switching on heated seats, on most older cars I tap a button a couple of times (VW/Seat) or turn a dial (Skoda), on the ID.3 I have to look at a screen to find the button, press part of the screen, wait a second, press part of the screen a couple of times - and because it has no actual physical presence I can't even locate my finger against the switch I have to compensate for the movement of the car.

Thankfully the number of complaints seems to be pushing car designers back to having sensible controls for basic functions, so I think this is the only generation of cars which will be this bad.

Not sure the rear wiper thing is unique to a Tesla, it’s pretty common on cars of that shape because there is nowhere to hide it without it looking trash.

Model Y has stalks, for now anyway but yes, I agree the ‘innovation’ (aka cost saving) is not worth the objectively worse controls, particularly given they were not problematic and everyone except those who drive BMWs are familiar with them.

The binnacle thing has pros and cons, it enables the really low dash and increased forward visibility, the downside is having to glance across rather than down but it’s not annoying, just different.

Huh? On every car I've ever driven you control the rear wiper by pushing the wiper stalk forward or backwards? How's that "looking trash"?
