When are you going fully electric?

Just cancelled my subscription which is a shame, the RFID token was handy aswell for the failsafe to unlock posts aswell as nice parking at ASDA, wont be worth connecting now so ill park with muggles and risk door dings.
Yeah, I'll be cancelling once my credit has run out. Unfortunately our corporate card doesn't work with BP, yet.

To be honest it's still pretty cheap, it's going to cause me to go through my credit a bit quicker but it's still cheaper than petrol!
Same here.
Got to love the moaners on Facebook complaining about a few pence per kw increase
Just wait for the Government to hike up the energy, road fund and any other EV tax required to recover the lost fuel tax revenue :p

I’m surprised so many of you are subscribed given you have home charging. You’d need to be using it twice a month for a decent charge to be worth it.

Polestar 2 owners get a free BP Pulse year sub and £450 of credit to use up
Or at least owners who ordered last year, yeah.

It's not so much the "few pence" increase (actually 53%), it's more what it represents (unregulated, significant rises in cost) and was always inevitable.

It'll be interesting to see how the market develops as the taxation increases. I guess cost savings will have been part of the case for early adopters, and over time those savings will get less and less and governments and oil companies seek to recoup their losses.

Stuff is always more expensive when the tech is relatively new, though. Who knows where it will end up, but I think EVs will have to get cheaper as we come out of the early adopter phase into an early majority market.

The issue mainly seems to be the EV "version" has loads of tech as standard which would be expensive options on the ICE version. That doesnt help

I’ve only just started paying after 3 months free but I almost liked the way it took the decision out, I would just go to BP, gave free charging when shopping so meant a decent car park space and when out and about wasn’t that expensive just incase. I’m not sure now this will generate more cash than under utilised subscription users like me.

This Rimac Nevera just made all other production cars, including the Ferrari SF90 and soon to be released Tesla S or Roadster, look several generations old

Investments you mean? It seems people want a EV charging infrastructure to charge their car but don't want to pay for it.

Or as fox points out many times, is an EV purchase only financially driven rather than the merits of the car? And this change starts to impact the TCO maths ?

Previously you you needed to charge about 55kwh a month to make subscribing worth it.

Now it’s nearly 200kwh, that’s a lot of public charging a month.

If you are vin diesel and live your life a quarter of a mile at a time yes. Price point is a bit different though

No, I mean the losses on their non-EV assets that will happen over time.

This change definitely impacts the TCO, especially for those without a home charger. If your maths is based on 'EV will save me a fortune, it's ok that the purchase price is higher' - that arguments starts to fall apart as the market matures.

What non EV losses? Solar panels? Oil?

Well as oil consumption drops, it’s inevitably going to cost more to supply.

I’m not sure what impact that will have on other pretrochemical products, has there been any analysis published on that (preferably independent for obvious reasons).

Yea when "smart chargers" are fully integrated and it costs as much to charge an EV as filling up a tank of petrol, then people will be crying.

It was never about cost saving for drivers in the long term. It has never been pushed by the government as being that. It will go on until the next big U-turn, EVs will become the new planet killer and we'll be on to hydrogen or clean burning synthetic petrol.

You say that, but there are lots of people out there justifying the cost of their EV (and its premium over ICE) on the basis of cost savings.

But you're right, it's an early market and when this gets mainstream, it'll cost just as much to fill an EV as it does ICE today. And we'll all talk about these "£2 to fill up" glory years to our grand children. And they will talk of how times were easier for Grandad.

:p
