When are you going fully electric?

Model Y and the Enyaq (and I assume the equivalent E Tron etc though haven't looked at them) are the only ev's I've actually went to see that had anything approaching an (v90 sized) estate car equivalent boot. Really frustrating but the actual shape and usefulness of the boot along with what is (or more to the point is not) usable above the loads covers etc makes a huge difference. The capacity stated for most really doesn't play out in an equivalent box for each car (obviously I guess)

I found the ev6 boot to be really poor for its quoted capacity for example - no good for my use (family, plus dog, plus camping crap etc) if it was to be the main family car whereas the Skoda would just about have worked.

for boot size it would help if the manufacturers just published the damn dimensions , which would avoid reviewers like autogefeuhl getting tape measure out, or the mobility organisation database (doesn't have many ev's though)

Ordered a new Mini Cooper SE for short journeys, having to run the M140i daily right now is killing me lol.

I'm on a really good rate with Octopus energy as well so that's a bonus.

Good choice.

Got a bit of a wait on that I bet ? I ordered one in March and was pushed back to Jan 2023 so cancelled it (other reasons too. )

Ordered in April, delivery in 2 weeks apparently or thats what im told. I rang up last week and that was the confirmation i got. Dealer said could be earlier but will let me know as soon as they get more info.

When i ordered only the L2 and above was available but thankfully not lost any of the functions that they are supposedly stripping out like heated seats, steering wheel, AC etc?

Chaps,

I lost the link - if I wanted a regular 3 pin plug to charge my Pug 2008 - is this sufficient? Is this the right thing?

Will my house burn down?

Will my house burn down?

It will only burn your house down if the plug you plug it into isn’t up to the job.

Officially the plug will be rated for a 10A continuous load but in reality you’ll not have anything in the house that pulls 10A for 10 hours plus and as such you’ll probably not notice a plug with a dodgy connection even if it’s been there for years.

I would monitor it for heat build up for the first few hours, if it’s starts getting hot swap to a different plug, you can also knock the charge rate down to 8A

can you reduce charge rate on an e-2008 or does getting one that can be configured for 6A/10/13 better choice (for visiting friends too.)

Neighbour and us both have remote garages with 30/40m of armoured cable supply, he plugs a 330e in, most nights, had wondered what losses that might impose

6A charging an EV. Shoot me now.

I bet he hasnt wondered, why would he, he could ask you and you would then check on Google...

How far is his house from the nearest substation, guess thats not as a fruity conversation as these new electric cars that will never catch on.

Interesting Q - not sure on the answer, presumably negligible - I had wondered as the 5M cable is out of stock and they only have the 10M cable.

Presumably it is the same, just bigger/more annoying to store?

Make sure you measure the length of your ring main in your house before making a decision ;)

Hey man, I can assume to know things I'd have no reason to know, or ask.

Also please don't mention measuring my ring again :o

Yes, although the extra length can of course be handy if you are out and about.
Just caught a YouTube review of one and it seems to still pack up nicely. Ta
