When are you going fully electric?

Come on explain the blackmail comments whilst you’re pretending to be a world authority on cell production again.

Jpaul. Gestures like a dead pope.

I swear he is just like a very early beta ChatGPT that has gone rogue and escaped.
Thing is, ChatGPT is actually decipherable in what it writes ;)

Anyway agree on Waze. Sure its not perfect but its actually far far better than people give it credit for.

Delayed until last week of May, first week of June. The suspense literally has you all on the edge of your Tesla seats.

I'm tampin'
Who cares. You are ordering a car loads of people already have. Not like it’s a world first. Do you enjoy baby gender reveal parties too?

Going to test drive a Model Y LR at the weekend as a potential replacement for the Model 3 SR.

Need something with a decent towing capacity (and range) as we may be getting a caravan. EV6 is another contender, V2L would be very handy for that. Any others to have a look at in that price bracket?

I don’t really want a a cross over but options become very limited once you add towing to the list of requirements.

If you actually follow/retain information on ev market (like the energy standing charge discussion)
'blackmail' - we gave jaguar/tata £500M guarantee last year, they subsequently want monies to keep a steel factory open and now battery factory,
yes - lots of jobs in the UK, how much profit goes back to TATA / Indian shareholders - the term blackmail seemed appropriate as johnny probably deduced.

Mirrors the mess Stellantis is in.

Were sheffield forgemaster also blackmailing the uK government too? Id have a better conversation with a bot so i wont call you that, the promotion seems unjust. Utter drivel.

The thing is if we had competent leadership in the UK we would be doing exactly what Tata is doing. Unfortunately we are spread too thinly, so our infrastructure gets exploited by others.

It is swings and roundabouts though, as a lot of multi national UK corps are only functional because of the environment India has allowed (outsourcing etc).

can EV tow much? most i think are 1.2 or 1.5 tonnes tow capacity which is just a small box...

The loaded weight (MTPLM).

You can get many up plated which typically adds another 80-100kg to the payload (and MTPLM). At the upper end that will take you over 1600kg but you can still get plenty of caravan below it.

Until you put stuff in them of course... There's some pretty image showing at the minute of the rear tow beams pulling off cars body structure!

Yeh I’ve seen that.

It’s in a Model 3 with an aftermarket tow bar bolted to the rear (non structural) crash bar. Illegal and frankly reckless.

It was allegedly towing a big glider trailer and hit a curb which pulled the crash bar off the car.

Needless to say when you install a tow bar onto a car not designed to have one, it’s likely to end in tears.

You could have a tow bar on a model 3 (or used to be able to) but you have to spec it from the factory and the rear end of the car was different to accommodate it. Very few are out in the wild and it was limited to 1000kg which is not that useful for a caravan even if you could tow with it.

Doesn't towing, especially something as large and aerodynamic as a caravan have a hugely negative affect on range? Seems the Model Y LR has an WLTP of 331 miles, what will that be towing a caravan?

I have wondered about towing, albeit the MG4 only supports 500Kg I could still do a motorbike in that, I'd imagine it makes charging a pain too given most charging locations are bays which aren't really gonna work with a caravan in tow?

Yes and about 150-180 miles, speed has a big impact. You are limited to 50/60 mph which helps a bit, cruising behind a truck helps too as it does with an ICE.

It will require a couple of mins extra to unhitch in most locations.

not sure if out yet but I read some caravans were being designed with batteries in them to extend the car range.

Stopping to charge will possibly be a pita too, unless you travel out of hours and can just take up a ton of bays.

Very long downhills might limit regen.

Not sure I'd be the first to recommend an EV to someone with a caravan, they would need to be dedicated to the cause! At least you can charge at your destination.
