Depends if you care about overclocking and/or noise/temperatures, they're the main things that differentiate one brand or more sceptically one model from another.
Performance wise there's very little difference between one 3070 and another.

I'd be willing to bet that no one will be getting a brand new 3080 for £500 delivered. Judging by how fast they sell at £650 and stocks now been limited, I cannot see NVIDIA or the AIC's supporting lower.
3080 12G at £699 is a better deal also if you ask me, performs within 4% of a 3080Ti in pretty much any game for £100 less than cheapest 3080Ti, still a total power house.

Out of your control I know but this is still way too expensive for 2 year old tech that is going to be EOL in a month or 2.
The USD price has dropped far more dramatically, unfortunately a pound much weaker than this time in the past two years dampens the price drop in GBP unfortunately.
Perfect example of this would be if the pound was around 1.35 to USD like it has been in past couple years, then 3080 12G would now be £599 in our deals, a further £100 cheaper.

GPU's above £500 aren't proving to be very popular at all, compared to the mining craze/boom/shortage/scalping episode. Loads of interest in the RX 6600's in the sub £270 bracket though, and lots of 3060 interest when it's below £300 as well.
It's certainly interesting the seeing the bigger GPU dies taking huge price cuts, showing where Nvidia had allocated there hopes/dreams on selling for a lot longer. Always looks good when you can say "Look this was $1499 and is now only $999, but shhh don't tell anyone it still has the same silicon as the $600 part, which only lost $50." proves the value in the lower priced product that they didn't want to sell, and are now trying to force sell more expensive SKU's using what I consider almost fake price reductions.

Indeed but as we have no idea of new cards pricing or what actually will come this year could mean these current deals really are incredible or not so great, but that is a gamble.
End of the day people are shopping today and spending today, so as long as we have competitive pricing is what counts.
If the new card prices are silly, I won't buy. I imagine it's going to be the same for a lot of people. was reading earlier thats exactly whats happening. for amd and nvidia. its obvious two weeks until nvidia show new cards. electric crisis. loads of gpus. big cut incoming.
