When the Gpu's prices will go down ?

Am I being dumb here, didn't miners affect uk stock because they were creating a global supply problem?

If you mean miners as in regular people buying more GPU's than they needed it would have made an impact. You also had retailers not capping purchases to one per account for a while which was stupid too. The only way to determine if overseas supply coming in to the UK limited quantity, you need to see how many landed in the UK distributors before you can comment on that.

Scalpers paying for automated bot service were buying bulk orders then selling on the bay. Of the stock that was available most of it ended up going here.

There has been a clear pattern from this and other mining booms in previous years. Ethereum shoots up in price, so do gpu prices and shortage of stock. When the mining boom goes down gpu prices go down with it and shortage starts to ease. eg previous mining boom, https://www.tomshardware.com/news/ethereum-effect-graphics-card-prices,34928.html

Store in Japan apparently stating they are getting more ex mining cards, https://youtu.be/tQypGHb78PM?t=119
I am pretty sure data works in the favour of those who hold all the cards, pun intended.
Money and impartiality don' exist.
So believe what you will.

As i suspected 3070TI is dropping so is the 3080TI at £850 and the 3080 12gb £750.

However no movement on the 3080 10GB, glad i got the 3080 at £699 it seems that all retailers are now marking this price. The 3080 10gb is the hot seller the TI version not so much which is the ones they are trying to shift.

If the rumours are true that the 4060 is on par with the 3080 and the 4070 sits between the 3080 and 3090, the 3080 will be the best bang for buck plus lower wattage!

Scalpers had a much larger market to sell to when GPU's could print money quickly.

Now that the GPU's print money slowly, scalpers don't have the same opportunities.

It's not like scalpers decided thay didn't want to sell 3080's for $2k anymore. Now that mining profitability has tanked, they simply can't.

Money-printers are worth LOT more money than pixel-pushers.

yeah, you never did actually understand the issue. Its scalpers.
What that says to me is the number of 3000 series cards that have been bought and mined on compared to the 2000 series. Out of the top 20 Nvidia cards mined on I count 50% as being 3000 series, compared to 20% being 2000/1600 series. Lets take the 3070 series which was going for £900+ (if I remember correctly) at times, 17.74% of the Nvidia cards being mined on were 3070 cards of some description, compared to less than 1% (.90% actually) being 2070/2070 super.
Even just the 3070 laptop was being mined on more at .78% of Nvidia cards, than either the dgpu 2070/2070super which come in at .45% of nvidia cards each (combined .9%)

Its 26% for 2000 series (and 1660`s) vs 36% for 3000 of all flavours - the most popular being 3070 then a lot further back (12% vs 7%) 3060ti - 3080 wernt bought for mining (5%) . The leg work is being done by Polaris cards @ 32%.

Yes mostly old gen cards like Polaris in the AMD top 20. 6800 only accounts for 1.8% of AMD mining cards at best, compared to the 17.74% of the 3070 for Nvidia cards, and these 2 cards were often compared to in reviews. Supports the view that 6800s were much harder to find than 3070s.

Nice to see OcUK have the 6800 at below MRSP now though for those who waited out the shortage

You have just cherry picked the most popular mining card out of the gen. The reason it was the most sought after was a) price b) hash rate , combine the two and you have a winner! This leaves the rest of the SKU's that were nowhere near as attractive bar the 3060Ti when that released. You have pretty much answered what you were trying to counter, most of the cards were scalped. The second part to this statement is people were buying from the scalpers. Take a look at all the cards at msrp right now and they are not selling many at all. Want to know why? They already bought them last year from the scalpers.

There are way more 10 and 20 series cards out there being used for mining.
