Always the play if you can skip a gen that's why I always liked the 80 tier till recent price scam
Hopefully AMD can refine the chiplet for next one
They will refine it...
... And keep any extra profits from it

You say that, but they also have another objective: get their Marketshare even lower than the barely viable 12% they currently have. They will refine it...
... And keep any extra profits from it
Only issue with that is if it backfires and the 80 class has £100 added to it next gen lol
If they'll pull a Ryzen, then possible savings will be pocked it by themselves - "they deserve it!", as some would say.Always the play if you can skip a gen that's why I always liked the 80 tier till recent price scam

Afraid not their MO. They’re likely to raise prices if they have a better performing next gen product. Sometimes not jumping in when the price is right (with current gen 7900 series) can be a mistake in hindsight.Or they lower the price because the current sales suck ? And AMD have something better to compete with

The price isn’t right which is why they have to keep cutting it, they’ve also cocked up their naming which is why they now can’t release a 7800XT and skipped over to a 7600 which they were then forced to price cut 2 days before they even released it. AMDs graphics division is in a mess right now and it’s all their own making.Afraid not their MO. They’re likely to raise prices if they have a better performing next gen product. @Gibbo said the price would go up again on the 7900xt as the rebate ended? Not really aligning with your price cutting theory? The price isn’t right which is why they have to keep cutting it, they’ve also cocked up their naming which is why they now can’t release a 7800XT and skipped over to a 7600 which they were then forced to price cut 2 days before they even released it. Sales tactic . If they were selling so good why the rebate? Keep up at the back@Gibbo said the price would go up again on the 7900xt as the rebate ended? Not really aligning with your price cutting theory?
I would love to see the price/performance gpu purchase you make next gen.Go up to what £750 ? Remember it started at £899.99
Pretty sure we'll see more offers in the future they didn't just drop for no reason demand only drops as time goes and look how quickly it dropped
I would love to see the price/performance gpu purchase you make next gen. Let’s critique that.
Why is no one criticising the 4070ti which is a worse proposition for £750/800?Go up to what £750 ? Remember it started at £899.99

A few things against being smoke to "pull a Ryzen" though:If they'll pull a Ryzen, then possible savings will be pocked it by themselves - "they deserve it!", as some would say.
Because no one is trying to pretend it’s good value. Why is no one criticising the 4070ti which is a worse proposition for £750/800?
Think there must be some anti AMD sentiment on this forum. I don’t think Nvidia cards get such a hammering lol.Because no one is trying to pretend it’s good value.
A few things against being smoke to "pull a Ryzen" though:
1) GPUs are immensely parallel meaning there is less scope for a clever design to be substantially cheaper to make.
2) Yes, going chiplets could disrupt this but only by so much.
3) Unlike Intel, media seldom misstep.
4) Gor some reason AMD's Radeon group not longer cares about marketshare.
5) GPUs are inherently parallel meaning it is unlike a smaller design - no matter how clever - can outperform a larger die.
Yes, I know #1 and #5 are almost the same but I though it important as the big advantage of Zen is that the cores have far better perf/ transistor than Intel's (and if server buyers weren't so conservative, Intel's server marketshare would be under 30% - even if that might mean AMD ship next to no desktop products just to supply server).
.
I do not expect any similar cost disruptive Radeon part.
Without going too much into technicalities, I was simply saying that further possible inovations that reduce cost won't (most likely), translate into lower prices.A few things against being smoke to "pull a Ryzen" though:
