When the Gpu's prices will go down ?

I sold an old Lian Li PC60 case recently and I expected to get no more than about 20-30 quid max, ended up going for a bit over 120, thought it was a scammer until the guy paid for it only a couple of hours later.
Interesting....I've got a Lian Li PC7 case knocking around that I was just going to give away to free on here thinking it wouldn't be worth anything nowadays. Think I'll try my look on an auction site first :)

Might buy you some time but when does the waiting for price normalisation end? Everyone was expecting this gen 2022 but now it’s been pushed back to 2025- I’m not sure we are going to get amazing price reductions for leaps in performance as we are all expecting.

It might be better just to live in the now and purchase something you can afford that’ll give you enjoyment for a few years- 6950xt or 7900xt or 4070ti pick your poison :)

We'll that's my competing school of thought.... But what is the least worst deal. 6950, 7900 XT or XTX, 4070 TI, 4080, 4090? Is you look to go up each card the gain % in performance seems to roughly equal half the extra cost % . Then through in RT and DLSS to complicate matters as some interest me.

My 7800X3D is going the be asleep waiting for my GTX 970 lol.

Leading edge is almost completely owned by Apple. 2nd tier is where datacenter, other smartphones and GPU compete.
What is likely to happen is that consumer GPUs will get shifted down another tier so 5nm with minor optimizations might last 2/3 gens.
That is fine for the most part, we already see how a 6nm 7600 competes with a N4 4060 so using the cutting edge node isn't needed for lower end GPUs and price is more important.

Yes, what matters is price/performance, with power consumption being a close secondary concern.
If we can get at least 15% perf/currency improvement per year at similar wattage I'm not going to worry about nodes...

Tbh with some of the 7900xtxs now being closer to 800 than 900 for a few models I don't be surprised if we see that follow us over here soon.

7900xtx for under 900 and I think that will sell really well.

well if i see an asrock 7900xtx for 900 i'll probably buy one, seen an msi one for 920 so prices are dropping.

The second-hand market is completely broken right now. I saw a second-hand 6800 XT going for £485 + £10 delivery on eBay the other day, while the exact same model was £499 here on OC.
Probably due to less cards being put up for sale as most people simply aren't upgrading to the new stuff since its not any faster at similar prices to last gen.

With the lull in interest now and the general cost of living being higher right now the only way these companies will trigger sales is to start dropping prices which we have seen starting to happen and long may it continue (there's plenty of way for them to drop, especially when the last gen stock disappears).

Are we though? The 4070, 7900XT and 4080 seem to have crept up a little.

Its simple though, if people dont buy them at the listed prices it will come down. If they have crept up its either greedy retailers trying to make a margin or people have been buying them which unfortunately means more money than sense.

In Brexit Britain, they are in freefall in the biggest market the US.

Yep other regions its moving and only a matter of time till UK has its adjustment.

ive seen 750 for the xt, 920 for xtx, cheapest ive come across

I paid £799 for my 1080ti so when the 7900xtx comes to around 800 I might jump, the question is how long it takes, i'll get to the point ill just roll my 1080ti over for another year and wait for next gen.

Bit of a stretch to blame it on Bexit, the reality is likely that we are paying those prices so they are holding, look at our 2nd hand market, it's way higher than other countries people are buying older gen cards for more than the US, AUS, EU etc that shows that we are willing to spend more. It's simply that until people actually stop buying them it's not going to go lower, even Gibbo has said the last few drops have done well for sales, so if they are doing well at those prices they wont go even lower like in other countries.

Sucks, but at the end of the day, the fault is ours for paying those prices.
