When the Gpu's prices will go down ?

This argument comes around everytime theres new cards on the horizon "it'll be better this time" except it isn't infact its gotten worse even gibbo said they won't be taking pre-orders this time around.
 
Yes there is a market for best GPU performance at all cost just like there is for cars, HiFi and other goods. This is true and this is known to be true... its human nature if you can afford it then why not.

The interesting question is therefore once you've milked the mugs and the addicts (who purchase debt) what is left, how big is that market? I don't pretend to know but what I guarantee you is that market is shrinking not growing. This is a problem for a manufacturer of goods... imho we will see delay now because 'the market isnt hungry enough' aka they have a ton of models and predictions based on maximum coinage that tells them to wait.
 
Oh sure, now those entry level cards take a 10% drop after a long period of stagnation and a few weeks after I bought one :cry:

Never mind, £40 disappears into the guttyworks of life real fast. The older I get the more I bleed cash anyway :rolleyes: At least I can start changing my advice to friends - it's been "don't bother, too expensive" for ages!

You're right in that '..what I guarantee you is that market is shrinking not growing..' yet businesses have to 'gamble' and produce more of their products during a boom to maximise profits. I would not be surprised if both AMD & Nvidia aka AIBs increased production in expection the good times would continue. When those good times end prices fall whilst production is cut back until the next boom in demand occurs.

They were always going to reduce prices gradually in the hope that people who had been holding out would be tempted to buy before they got to MRSP. At least you didn't buy a 3060 for £695 as some did while a 6700xt is now £499 for a top of the range model.

I see not just reductions on 6800 series but also the 6700xt range.

Too little too late for me. If next get is 50-100% faster I expect the current gen to be proportionally cheaper so close to being EOL.
 
I just wanted to update those that were interested in the situation with the B Grade Gigabyte 6800 XT I purchased from OCUK. The question was asked whether the card could be registered with Gigabyte which I managed to do and received confirmation of 3 years warranty. There was then some question as to whether Gigabyte would honour this given the card was a B Grade item so I contacted Gigabyte's UK support centre for clarification.

I have recently purchased a B Grade 6800 XT Gaming OC graphics card from Overclockers.co.uk which they have said was returned as unwanted by the original purchaser, they are providing a 90 day warranty with the card as they are unable to sell it as new.

I have registered the card on the Gigabyte website and have confirmation of a 3 year warranty based on the cards serial number and invoice that I uploaded. However I just wanted to check in with you that under the circumstances if I needed to make a warranty claim that it would be honoured.

I asked this question some years ago when I purchased another B Grade Gigabyte card (GTX 780ti still going strong) and was told by the Gigabyte representative on the OCUK forums that any warranty claim made in these circumstances would be based on the age of the card determined by the cards serial number and just wanted to check that this is still the case or if the situation has changed.

They have confirmed that they will will honour the warranty regardless of the card being B Grade, so hopefully this adrresses that question for those who legitimately wanted to know as well as those who appeared to scoff at my suggestion that this might be the case.

We will honour the warranty with the invoice. Please keep the original invoice.

In case the invoice is lost, we will follow the warranty of the serial number of the card.

I don't think they have a choice mate. There are seller laws in the UK, and given how they all trace back to the manufacturer they have to honour it.

But that's cool and thanks for letting us know :)

Seems like a sensible estimate, hopefully the competition with AMD will give us a few good deals. The problem is that MRSP and AIB prices are two different things and can change on a whim (when they sell all the inventory to miners and scalpers).

I was wondering if the time has come to upgrade my trusted Zotac 1080 to a 3080, but hell, looking at 3080 prices they're still too high. A 3080 Zotac with 12gb is £950.
No major rush to buy to be fair, I just hope to see the prices come down to acceptable levels. Any chance of that happening or are those days gone and never coming back ?
 
cards are still way over priced. just hold out a bit longer they need to shift em. especially with new cards coming. energy prices just going up again soon as well. mining is basically going to be pointless and bitcoin is going to go bang.
 
I keep waiting for the price to reduce a bit more. My 980ti died 6 weeks ago and my gaming rig has sat idle, I've waited this long should I buy now or wait for a price drop that doesn't seem to be coming?

No reason to wait if you are happy to buy AMD. At £500 for quality 6700xt you get raster performance only slightly lower than a 2080ti which was about double the price. The 6600xt gives good 1080p at a lower price than the 6700xt. On the Nvidia side a 2060 12GB at £300 will give you better performance than you got from your old card and tide you over until the next gen cards come out, or perhaps longer if you were happy with your 980ti. However, as you have noticed many other Nvidia cards present as often still overpriced somewhat
