When the Gpu's prices will go down ?

Feeling like the 3060/ti and 6700xt have plateaued the last couple of weeks. Do we think this is where they're likely to sit now? I'd rather they come down to RRP but if they're not actually gonna move I'd prefer to have one sooner than later :p

Though naturally the model I want is out of stock rn :(

If your thinking of buying AMD if the mid-range so the 6700 and 6800 series, I'd recommend waiting a couple of weeks, I've applied huge pressure on AMD to try and sort the pricing there, their pricing on 6600 and 6900 series is good, sales back this up, but 6700 and 6800 needs work.

NVIDIA cards are absolutely flying again, the tweaked pricing at OcUK has worked wonders so I am not sure NVIDIA prices will improve much more in the short term, but we shall see what May brings but right now April has been a huge month for NVIDIA at OcUK. :)

I suppose if you've been hanging on and "need" one then the current prices look good. If they want more sales it's all about price. I imagine a lot of people don't want to pay MSRP this late into the generation with big increases on the way. They might be persuaded to buy now if the prices drop below MSRP.

I did wonder if they'd just found a price point that people will pay and therefore manufacturers feel no need to drop them further. Bit of a shame for the consumer, but I guess that's how markets work. If we think they're still too expensive, we need to continue to not buy them

Think I'm fancying an Asus TUF 3060Ti for that beefy/quiet cooler, so I guess I'll at least have to wait until it's in stock. If the AMD refreshes arrive by then and are looking compelling then I'll decide at the time :)

depends what you mean by sane, GPU prices are likely to remain at a higher price point forever now... but to offer a more helpful approach £500 end of this year could net you close to 6900XT/3090 perf or not far from it. Is that worth the wait only you can decide...
Some of the aftermarket cards are reaching down to their MSRP, not reference prices.
Not to defend the higher prices were suffered for the past few years but AIB cards always were more expensive by at least 50 or so quid with closer towards 100 for decent models

That is certainly true from the Ampere generation, the AIB cards were mostly £700+ yes. Lets be honest though £50 here or there isn't the issue.

By the end of the year, £500 might not buy you much considering the fragile economic environment. At this point is just like a Russian roulette.

Still most of them are 150+ over reference prices (nvidia) some 200+.

I'm sure it's the opposite? The AIB cards always used to be cheaper than the FE cards as far as I recal. They certainly were during the Pascal days. The FE cards went for MSRP while the AIB used to be around £50 cheaper.

AIB cards have always been more expensive

Here's the first article I found.
GeForce GTX 1070 "Founders Edition" version of the card that will be available first and cost $449. After that, versions produced by Nvidia's usual card partners, with custom coolers and designs, should roll out, and the least expensive of these are expected to start at $379.

Here's another example
NVIDIA's Founders Edition cards are sold at a premium when you compare pricing with the cards that will be available from the AIB partners. At $299, NVIDIA has priced its premium product at the top end of the scale

It's too late for me in this release cycle. I'll put up and wait for the next gen

I skipped 2000 series. I've happily skipped 3000 series.

Looking at the lack of any decent games whatsoever on the horizon that will even remotely tax PC graphics cards, I'll probably happily skip 4000 series too.

Hardware requirements will hardly change radically on PC as long as the 1060 will be the most popular card.

I've had a few times over the last couple weeks where I've been close to buying a new PC for 1440p 144hz and all the associated research on the various components, monitor etc. Then I stop and think, but what will I actually play or do that I can't do now? Plus for the £1500 or so I'm looking to spend I could get a 4k TV + PS5. I don't know what to do anymore so I'm just in a limbo.

get that MSI Gaming X 3060 12GB down to £399.99 and i'll grab pne ;)

Only £40 above that, but I know what you mean. It's not about whether the difference really matters, it's about not being part of the problem by paying more than things are worth.

Although I've long lost track of what GPUs are worth. There is a degree of "I'd rather have it 6 months sooner than 25% cheaper" setting in.

A 1440p PC would cost me 166% of what I paid for my current PC and about 130% its lifetime cost with upgrades, even adjusting for inflation (not to mention that Italy in average had inflation + salary deflation!) I'd be getting a proportionally worse deal than 10 years ago.

Exactly, the cheapest 3060ti on OcUK, last time i looked was £488 and the difference in perf from the 3060 is quite big so the 3060 really needs to be sub £400 for me to buy one. I know its the Gaming X model but £440 is still really too much for that card.

And like you said, i refuse to be part of the problem by buying at these prices.
