When you brush your teeth....

I thought popping toothpaste onto the brush then under the water was the done thing!

When I was a little nipper I used to get water into my mouth for a rinse by putting the brush under the water and then sucking the water out of the bristles.

My dentist told me that if I didn't use mouthwash or at least water after brushing then I'd just be brushing the plaque around my mouth, or words to that effect.

Mine told me that it can do more harm than good, and recommended using mouthwash for no more than two weeks at a time on occasion to make sure the gums stay healthy.

I've never felt the need to stick the toothbrush under the tap before brushing and will continue not to do so. :) What baffles me is people who leave the tap running while they brush.

You clearly do not need toothpaste!
All the toothbrush adverts do not use it, so it must not be needed.

haha those adverts annoy me so much, especially for electric toothbrushes.

I got a e/t for xmas and I put toothpaste on, switched it on and promptly splattered it all over the mirror, sink, taps and my t-shirt.

I then learnt to switch it on when in my mouth but it still manages to spray and dribble paste all over the place.

This is why I squeeze the toothpaste in to the bristles, it doesn't spray around so much

No water on toothbrush until rinsing the stuff off, also I don't eat/drink anything for like an hour afterwards to let the toothpaste do its thing.

I also brush my teeth in the morning in the shower which I guess is another thing that just "isn't done" right?

Odd question inspired by a news segment on BBC news about Fluorinated water. They showed a person about to brush their teeth, putting the paste on the brush then they ran it under the tap for 3 seconds...

I DO THAT!!! but I've never seen anyone else do it. Do you???

I do it with cold water for a couple of seconds.

Always do it, otherwise toothpaste doesn't spread quickly. Well I have done few times without any water, the difference is only the first 15 seconds anyway.

are we scraping the barrel of thread topics here lol :)

I forgot the point of the thread, had to go back to OP :).

Ok. So in summary, you thought that what you did was pretty uncommon, but it turns out that it isn't, got it :).

5 Stars!
