Where is my mojo?

I sense the future is GTS shaped. I think it will give you the best of everything you want out of a car. 997 can be had for around £60k, but the 991 GTS is just another level above.

Not keen on the 997 one, wheels look wrong on all of them and they are to expensive for what they offer.

Did you look at the F-Type?
Would be on my list (if I had the money!).
Seems to be a good tourer but in V8 form also looks like it could be fun when you wanted, plus it sounds great.
Merc AMG GT, although I guess availability (and price?) would be problematic?

Not a fan of the Jag or AMG's really :(

Not tempted by a classic or something a bit older, rawer or more characterful?

I would agree with this.

Spend a lot less but spend it often, try lots of classics at the lower end of the market. Lots of projects will keep you entertained, maybe 60s and 70s stuff? Even some of the 80s cars are becoming more interesting.

Less about speed and comfort, more about character and experience?

I have a skyline r32 project but I'm really drawn to a nice S1 106 rallye for some reason :)

Go for the Cayman you want and if you don't like it sell it next year and get the GT3. It's not like you have to keep the car forever.

I think you just need to bite the bullet and buy something and you'll get back into the spirit of things (you must have been a few years without something reasonably fruity now).

All of the stuff on your list seems to be very much stagnant in price or appreciating so you can't go too far wrong if you need to sell it in 6 months time.

Get the MX5 prepared and raced. Surely its the right time to get that project back up and running. It'll be much cheaper fun in the meantime while you get your mojo back and might help you figure out your decision instead of worrying about the money burning a hole in your pocket or the wife earmarking it for other things. Plus it would be silly fun. Just don't break any more bones :p

Why don't you try something completely different that may rekindle your love for cars?

An Austin Healey 3000 are beautiful things and they're certainly a thrill to drive :)

That's purely an example though.

Does it have to be a new car? Why not get something vintage?

I would take a GTS Cayman over any M car

Excellent choice sir, I love my one. On a bigger plus point, I can sell mine currently for more than I paid for it. :D

If you need another go in the GTS let me know, location dependant.

When I play fantasy sports car shopping even with a healthy budget I struggle to get excited about modern stuff to the point where I genuinely think my lottery win weekend car would be a 964 based classic recreation.
