Where is the first floor?

does nothing exist?

No.

Before the universe existed there was literally nothing. There was no-one around to even recognise it as nothing, it was just nothing.

This is taking into considersation the idea that the flow of the universe might not be cyclical, but for the purposes of your question I'm ignoring that concept.

Yes and no

I agree with the being born part

However......by walking into the building you have by default gained something. You have entered the building, 1st floor

walk out of the building, 0 - you are not on any of the buildings floors

You haven't gained anything from entering the building. Not on the same scale that you gain something by going up a floor at least so you cant measure it on the same scale.

If you start at floor 2 and go up 2 floors you end up at floor 4.

If you start at the bottom floor and go up 2 levels, why would you end up at floor 3?

ask someone next to you to count to ten

Do they start with 1 or 0?

They start 1, therefore when you walk into a building you are on the 1st floor

or....walk into a shop and ask for three mars bars. Does the assistant hand over 3 or 4 mars bars?

1,2,3
0,1,2,3

Sounds like elementary maths error. Default count is zero in the same way that default level is ground. You can still count all sorts of fractions between zero and one.

It's all very well pushing your dubious, pre-packaged confectionary example, but what if you want to buy part of something? Half of that piece of cheese, quarter of a scoop of those chillies etc? Where is your "counting starts at 1" theory now?

When a family has aseveral children, the earliest born child is known as the first born - not the zeroth born child.
When you are discussing your history of cars the initial car purchased is known as your first car.
When you are dating someone new, the initial date is known as the first date.
When you do a pub crawl you start in the first bar.
If you have been married several time you can refer to your first wife and first marriage, not your zeroth wife.

And a zeroth floor would technically be a nonexistent floor is zero indicates the absence of something.

Everyone agrees that the floor at street level is a floor. It's a surface laid on the foundations. It's a floor.

Now many people call it a ground floor because it's at ground level. However, since it's a floor it's the FIRST floor of the building.

Zero is nothing. I have zero mars bars (therefore I can't eat one). Since the 'ground' floor IS a floor. It is in existence, it's number ONE. Not zero.

It's the floor on the ground.

The first floor is the first floor above ground.

That's 3.

But your turn now answering my logic?

Ground floor can be synonymous with first floor, that is how it is in America. You can tell an American to go to ground or first floor and although ground will mot be as common they know that as equal to the first floor. when you go up 1 floor you are then at the second floor (you have 1 apple and you add a second apple you have 2 apples, not 1 apple!).

So the rest of your pints are not at all relevant. If someone sky dives within a building, e.g. down an elevator shaft or some such then they will hit the first floor which is the ground.

You are getting this all messed up in your head. Its not an expression of number of floors but a method of conveying transition , in this instance vertical transition. You go up 1 level and arrive at the first level above your starting point (In Architecture this starting point was historically the primary entrance at street / ground level).

If you want to compare it to babies do so in terms of age, when they are 1 year old an entire year has transitioned since birth, they aren't born at age 1 are they? You have to transition from point A to point B in time/space.

Its 0 degrees out. That doesn't mean there is a lack of temperatue outside. Its just a number on a scale between 1 and -1. Just like the 0 or ground floor.
