I have a netgear router on my network but now its only acting as a switch and a wireless hub.
I have another router doing all the main work. but both slow down when using utorrent.

ive not noticed back at home, but then the network traffic from the other 3 pcs is minimal anyway.

dad certainly has not complained to me about slowness in its lifetime anyway, and he would if it was there...mr "i'll never become dependent on broadband" well and truly is now and if it doesnt work perfectly he has a fit

is anyone with a modest to good pc even going to notice the difference in resources used with that compared to others (perhaps excluding java based).

Using that router here with Utorrent without prob, on 2mb here so have my Upload rate set to 20k, and even when downloading at 230k+ my internet browsing is still fine.

Exactly the same setup here...DG834G, uTorrent and 2MB broadband, works like a charm. Does everything I need it to do.

Utorrent for me aswell

Also Peer guardian has issues with Vista until they bring a new one out. One more thing the default lists for pg2 is like 5/6 you can actually get it to 12 and block sony etc.

I used to use utorrent, until I installed Vista RC2, now it cuts off my internet connection after a while, but then again, so does Bit Comet.

Since short my az (im using winxp) cuts my lan connection after some time (like 20 mins) and thus also my internet ( not directly connected to inet).
I reinstalled, worked ok for 5 days or so, and again same prob, reinstall now doesnt fix it what can be wrong

utorrent worked perfectly for me in vista rc2. i ran it 24/7 for a good couple of weeks no problem whatsoever.... :confused:

Indeed. Exactly what I've found.

I'd rather have Azureus running all the time and using a fair bit of resources than have to stop uTorrent every time someone wants to browse the web/play games.

Get more RAM.

(And if you have a huge list of downloads then Az does grab too many resources... A reasonable list means it only uses 300MB or so of RAM)

EDIT - This is using a 2wire router, with uploads limited... Using RC4 encryption if avail etc.
Even if uTorrent is downloading at 1kb/s... Internet times out. 0_o
With Az - No probs.
