Which "Hot Hatch"?

I got my revised shape octavia vRS brand new for less than 16 grand and 2 years interest free

its practical and will easily fit mountain bikes in the boot (remove the front wheels and you would still be able to have rear seat passengers..its tenths of a second slower than the scirroco and leon..not as good looking granted, but its easily as good inside as the leon though not the scirocco

the scirocco in my opinion is bought for its looks, not its practicality, you by a leon because you cant afford a golf (same with the octavia if I'm honest but at least its practical with it)

if you want a fast practical hatch but dont want an ST I would look for a nearly new golf gti, as an all rounder its a good package (if a tad expensive)

Sounds like you want to live on your own, masturbating like a safari park chimp whilst playing Battlefield in your birthday suit?

LOL

I love you Jane.

Absolutely, and they did this by shipping me off to boarding school in another country from the age of 8, where of course I had no freedom whatsoever!

Perhaps he enjoys living with his girlfriend but has no interest in living alone? Not everyone determines happiness by whether you live in a flat or not just like not everyone determines it by what car you drive?

Of course, everyone's priorities are different - I was just saying I dont understand wanting to move back with your parents once you've already moved out

Perhaps sir would like a man instead? :D

Actually thinking about this whole thing, being married and having my own life is holding me back. I'm going to get divorced and move back in with mum and dad, then I can have loads more spare cash for an emfree.

No thanks, i'm an open minded chap but i'm not into the pink cigar.

Theres something a-miss

CTR :)

I was in the same boat as you, scirocco/CTR and the leon. Drove them all, the CTR doesn't have the best build quality out of those three (its by no means bad) but... when I put my foot down on the 'test' drive for the first time I just fell in love and had a smile from ear to ear, neither of the other cars did that :)

Bloody hell Robbie G, I swear the only reason you ever post is to start an argument or get some sort of a rise out of someone. Sheesh. You really do think you're better than everyone else, don't you?

FWIW I still live with my parents, and I'm not particularly ashamed of the fact. I have a good relationship with them, I pay my way, and I have plenty of breathing space and room to 'spread out'.

I'm back living with my parents because the house is very well located, possibly the best place to live in terms of commuting to my schools, the house is massive and my parents are away most of the time.

Couldn't really give a **** what people think. After living for London in for 5 years and in Norway for 2, it's nice not having to pay ridiculous amount of money to people I don't know :)

I can't believe driving an E92 M3 and having a few more dollars in the savings account is a good enough reason for people to move back in with their mums :(.
Absolutely 100% agree.

When I go on car-meets & speak to people with a decent motor & it transpires that they still live at home I can't help think 'you utter utter mug'.

I've got a fair few mates who still live off mummy & daddy for various reasons & everybodys different etc etc but Christ the sense of maturity, experience & enjoyment that moving out & either having your own place or sharing with a mates brings far out weighs having a 'decent' car.

And that's coming from a massive petrolhead.

Enjoyment? I have my reasons for moving out eventually but 'enjoyment' of a pokey 2 bedroom flat with on-street parking and noisy neighbours certainly isn't one of them. Infact my standard of living will take a nose dive when I do move out, the only benefit of doing it is spending more time with the GF.

There is a lot of enjoyment to be had from owning property but that comes long after you move out IMHO, when you first buy a place you actually like in an area you like that you can enjoy making your own.

I haven't read the entire thread, but to answer the original question, assuming I had a gun to my head & my family held hostage & I really had to pick one... I would still have to roll a dice, none float my boat... (TypeR? maybe?)

I have a great relationship with my parents & really enjoyed living at home, but it doesn't compare to moving out, maturing & becoming an adult standing on your own two feet. Yes of course it is most likely going to be a compromise in many ways compared to your family home, but the experience & enjoyment make it worth while.

As I've said, i'm mainly coming from the angle of those who live off mummy/daddy while funding the expensive car. I fully understand those who still live at home in order to save to get their own place.

Like I said, everyones experiences are different. I know some people who have their parents do everything for them and I have similar thoughts to you on this. I don't, I pay rent, I pay bills for services I want and I cook my own meals, do my own washing, blah blah blah.

Surely everyone who lives at home does at least some of this stuff

Yup, pay my own bills of course, my Dad really enjoys cooking so afternoon meals are hard to say no too, especially when he is an ex chef. Ironing and washing I prefer to do myself but sometimes my Mum just does it whilst i'm at work.

I want to move out, I dont want to be at home this time next year but saving for a house deposit when you know its going to be in a crap area and you're single and stuck in a job with a wage that isnt as much as i'd like is damn difficult

Unless of course you can just live in the south annexe / wing of your parents' mansion, like Fox.

Feel free to chip in then...

Are you mad, im the same and wont move out untill im at least 25 jesus why would i want loads of bills and some manky house when i can pay £120 a week and live like a king, save money and enjoy life to the fullest .... Sure if i could afford to move out to a nice house in a nice area i would and im sure it would be utterly fantastic but i cant so there isnt a chance in hell

Ill be told i need kids at 20 next :p

You would hope so! But alas I guess not. Once I was past a certain age I asked for nothing from my parents, the opposite became so, especially for my mother, where I couldn't do enough for her.

Everybodys plus/minus of living at home is different, so I cannot reel off a list.
I vaguely remember a comment from you after your trip to Australia last year(?), I believe it was along the lines of you happily sacrificing a chunk of money for the experience that other wise would have been spent on a new car. Imagine trying to actually explain that to somebody!

and enjoy life to the fullest ....

Are you honestly living life to your fullest?
Do you not have mates who have moved out?

Right now for example I am at a mates house with four others (including Aero!) waiting for another six to turn up warming up for the England game.

We would not be doing this if said person lived at their parents house.
