Which "Hot Hatch"?

He at least agreed he likes the CTR, which is more than can be said for the rest of the hot hatch suggestions in this thread :D

General opinions, etc?

Buy a tidy standard Golf GTi MkV with leather and xenons for £13k. They're basically Sciroccos anyway! Brilliant car to have at the age of 23 and will be more fun than the Rocco. A well looked after one will feel just as new, as you probably won't get a facelift Rocco for £18k.

Put the rest towards saving to move out of your parents' house! How any self-respecting 23 year old male can stomach living with their parents, is beyond me!

If I was single, I would move back in with my mother in a heart beat. If I still lived at home, I could be making better progress on my savings, be driving an E92 M3 (Albeit financed) and still have more disposable funds.

Easy, £120 a month rent. Anyway, I think this chap is asking for car advice, not how to live his life.

Those sentiments depress me greatly. The fact that some grown men would could live with their parents so they can have an M3 on the driveway is really, really sad.

Would be interested to know why.... seeing as they are the same car underneath

Coz imma Golf fanboy!

MikeHiow and LiE - of course you'd have more disposable income, that's obvious...what I mean is I don't know how you could do it in terms of living in your parents' pockets. I'd need my independence. Unless of course you can just live in the south annexe / wing of your parents' mansion, like Fox.

Feel free to chip in then...

Tell that to my friend who does the same job as me. He has £30k saved for a house deposit and drives a 20k BMW.

It's not a permanent arrangement, but one that has it's benefits.

I'm nigh on 25 and still living at home after moving out of London 18months ago. Great relationship with parents, £100 rent, and much more liquid cash available to enjoy my life and car.

Living at home doesn't mean you have curfue and have to be there every day and every night ;)

£100 rent is nice of your parents. I'm 20 and I have to pay £250+an extra £50 just for food. (apparently i eat too much )

£300 a month living costs is still nothing - I'd happily move back home for this.

My living costs alone are in excess of £1k a month.

I know but it does mean you have to be very quiet when you get back from a night out, can't bring back slappers for loud sex, can't sit around naked playing Nintendo, aren't in charge of the living room TV, can't leave car bits all over your garage, etc.

Obviously it depends partially on the relationship you have with your parents, but I wouldn't like to risk playing BFBC2 in my birthday suit with some porn on in the background!

No matter how much you convince yourself, you can never be entirely your own man whilst living at home.

I did all of this when I lived at home - my Mother is a push over though :D

This isn't solely restricted to living with parents, it's an issue if you live with anyone surely?

Everyone has different circumstances, how the hell you're supposed to afford a house on you're own is beyond me, not everyones loaded and the people that make these assumptions are stuck up TBH, cant see past their own nose

I'm older than all the ages mentioned in this thread, single, dont pay my parents anything for rent as thats there way of helping me save, just got myself out of debt and now saving for a house deposit, if I was to rent on my own I would have to stay in every weekend, I wouldnt be able to afford to run a car and just generally wont have any where near thee quality of life I have now, plus I have sound parents that dont bother me for anything, typing that just made me realise how much I take them for granted and I need to do something about that

Its the sensible thing to do, stay at home and get a few quid behind you.

We are thinking about an extension on top of the garages for my son, save him driving me mad in the house.
