Hi all,

Now my girlfriend is shortly starting a new job involving shifts which means I'll have some evenings free to myself. I'm considering getting into an MMO. For a bit of background I started with Ultima Online and have tried just about everything since, but never settled with one that lived up to UO. I've tried them all, but none in the last year or two.

Anyway, I'm considering starting either WoW (with the triple XP playing with a friend) Lotro (also with a friend) both of which I've tried, but never pulled me in...or waiting for Champions Online which I have on preorder and have had a dabble with in closed beta.

Your thoughts?

I quit WoW a year back, and is the only MMO i'd ever consider going back to. I tried WAR but quit at level 20 (boring), LotRO trial didn't impress me much.

mortal online & Aion there is nothing new at moment.

fallen earth looked bit bad in closed beta around year ago im not sure about now

Tried Eve, several times. Always start with the best of intentions but it just isn't for me

Aion is totally different to Final Fantasy, Champions online - not sure I can go in to it due to the ND

I don't mean it is like Final Fantasy, just the Asian art-style doesn't appeal to me. I'm in the Champions online closed beta but from what i've played so far is a bit like City of Heroes 1.5

Champions Online all the way. have been playing the beta, and once they polish that game it is going to be something special!

And at least it will tide you over until Star Trek Online :D

Ive only played (mmo's) Star Wars Galaxies , There and City Of Heros. and id sat City Of Hero's is awsome. http://www.cityofheroes.com/. and just so you know, im not a comic book geek.
and other games i like. BF2 , CounterStrike , C&C , Sims 2 , GTA... although its not realy like any of those games lol.

I've played..

Ultima Online
Everquest
Everquest 2
Neocron
Merdian 59
Star Wars Galaxies
Vanguard
Warhammer Online
Guild Wars
Guild Wars nightfall
The Matrix Online
Planetside
City of Heroes
City of Villains
Eve-Online
Lord of the Rings Online
World of Warcraft

I'm sure there will be more I remember.. Always went back to UO!

I have to agree that EVE is by far and away the best MMO. but I suppose you have to enjoy the whole "Space" genre in order to enjoy it. Its the only game with the threat of "real loss" and which actually feels like the world is in player control. Having said that, I'm on my 4th attempt at getting into it, and I'm struggling...

I'm still waiting for another space MMO, but more in the style of Elite rather than EVE. I want to be able to sit in my ship, and not just make it feel like an RTS where I'm only in control of one unit. I want to be able to walk around my ship, land on planets and space stations.

And I want to make it with a hot alien babe. And in the end, is that not what man has dreamt of since first he looked up at the stars? :D

Darkfall Online

Many people slate it, but I love it.

And it's even better if you join the guild I'm in with some top notch people who you can have a laugh with ;D.

Although many people didn't like it, it will take a week or two to get to grips with things.

just a nice vid to watch to see what the game looks like

I agree mating with a hot alien would rock, and they are planning to release walking in stations in a future eve update, but not sure when that will be.

Best way to learn eve online is to join a corp and be tought by fellow pilots. If you want come and join the IHATALO Navy Cartel, based out of Peace and Order station in ikami, then you will see how that game is meant to be played :D

I played WoW since the beta, quit a few months ago, tried Lotro for 2 months, Warhammer for a week, sorry to say it, but none of them are as good/polished, Re-subbed WoW yesterday :|
