Which Music Player are you using?

no it's no good. windows version doesn't read the tags properly either. i'm so anal all my tags even have the same tag types so i don't know what it's problem is? oh well it's only version 0.25. i might give it another go when version 1.0 comes out. :p
I just clicked on one of the songs without the song length on it. The song started to play and the song length appeared. :D

lol. it didn't even stay installed long enough for me to try playing a song. i could understand the inconsistency if my files were a mish-mash of differently tagged files. but they are not. they all have identical tag attributes.

as you and james mentioned, it's very slow at building the library. i only have a very small collection and it still took ages to add..... and the browser function is identical to the plugin i mentioned earlier in the thread for foobar. i guess i should have tried all the other web-based features to see it shine but i couldn't be bothered.... :p

back to foobar i go. how could i even have contemplated cheating on my old faithful..... :(

LOL. That was quick then.

5000+ songs here. That took a while. The iPod took even longer.

Hmm my first problem with Songbird. Its lost some of my songs. I thought, this morning I'll listen to some Beatles stuff. So I click on 'Beatles' in Songbird. Only the album '1' is there. Hmm. So I scroll down looking for 'The Beatles'. Sure enough its there but not all my other Beatles albums. So I rescan the media library and Songbird "finds" the 5198 files Winamp has. But still not all there.

So where the ruddy hell are they? Songbird and Winamp both have the same number of songs listed but I can't see all my Beatles albums in Songbird.

well songbird obviously has taste and doesn't think you should be listening to the beatles..... :p

(j/k) in all seriousness, it's just not fit for purpose yet. why bother with it? :)

Just wanted to see what it was like. I think someone on OcUK is using Songbird on a permanent basis.

I'm using Songbird as my music player. Does everything I want from it and I've yet to encounter a single problem with it. Eeasy to use and allows me to access my music quickly. No album art support yet, but I'm sure it'll be added in the future.

Songbird is basically Musikcube slapped into a firefox browser with a pretty skin and user interface. The MP3 blog thing is interesting but Ive personally never used it.

Just checking the Songbird forum out and I think the ID3 tag bug we found is bug 800.

Still looking for someone to have had my problem with songs being counted but not appearing. Looks like I might be the first. :o

just checked that and it says resolved/fixed for the 0.2 nightly? and we're using 0.25?

anyway, i download the 0.3pre release and that has read all my tags. you might want to give that a go? :)

I found the 0.3 nightly and I've downloaded it. Haven't actually gotten round to installing it yet. Will do so now it seems it might fix the bug.

bah. it's buggy as hell. the menus flicker when you hover the mouse over them. the itunes-alike browser bits are buggy too. you select an album and it won't show the tracks. then you select another album and it does - go back and then it shows the tracks for the album it didn't a minute ago. i'm going round in circles here.... :p

I have literally JUST installed it and it does seem quite buggy. Looks like I'm back to Winamp until 0.3 is out proper.

Have you tried any of the extensions? I've got the MinimiseToTray one. Love that with Thunderbird and thanks to Songbird's being based on Mozilla its easily transferrable.

Apologies for the late reply. I am using the same extension as you, it's pretty neat. I haven't tried any others yet as I couldn't find any I really needed to be honest. I also gave the 0.3 nightly build but that wasn't compatible with the extensions and as you and marc2003 found out, is buggy as hell. :p

It certainly has potential but i'm going to stick with the 0.25 release for the time being and perhaps use Winamp for my iPod or something.

Like someone else on here said, it certainly does bare many similarities to musikCube, which is an amazing player. I may have to go back to musikCube if I end up having to use Winamp for my ipod as that's what I originally had.

You using another player now?

EDIT: One thing I forgot to mention was that I never experienced any of these bugs with missing albums and incorrect tags.

Perhaps as a past foobar user it had converted all my tags to a different format?
