I'm tempted to go with the PS4 rather than continuing to upgrade my PC for gaming.
It looks like for at least a few years it will run the multiplat titles at a decent quality.
Sony have a much stronger range of first party IP's than Microsoft (IMO).
I also thought the software features they showed off at the original reveal looked really smart and game focused.

If I don't get a PS4 I'm quite happy to keep on drinking down the Nintendo Koolaid and playing everything else on the PC. The Xbox One looks a turd.

I'd say the PS2 pretty much stormed it's generation. Most sales and regarded as the best by gamers I'd say.

Yeah, PS2 still has huge value in rising markets too like Brazil for example, where it is very affordable. It really was an amazing machine.

I agree with you here, the exclusives that Sony has are best played with a controller IMO, especially compared to xbox (minus Killzone) as most of the sony exclusives are more button mashing style games that I love to use the dualshock for like God of war, I also prefer Gran Turismo to Forza, maybe it's just that menu music and sound effects, but I love it :D the strongest exclusives to xbox IMO are mostly shooters which I much prefer to play on PC than on a controller, so I basically won't really like those as much on a console, so that is one of the many reasons that I want a PS4 :)

Also Nintendo has some awesome exclusives like:

Bayonetta 2
Wonderful 101
All of the Mario games
DK Country
Sonic Galaxy (I can't remember the name so this is what I've started to call the new sonic game :p)
Zelda (which I personally haven't really played but they're really popular games)

Is there ever a winner? I mean no one thinks the Wii is better than the 360 or PS3 but it sold more. The winners are the gamers I guess..

Depends what you mean by winner. From the gamers POV or the consoles makers? From the console makers POV Nintendo absolutely stormed it. Not only did they sell by far the most consoles but they actually made a profit on most of them AFAIK, something which can't be said for MS and Sony.

From the gamers POV surely they're all winners :p?

I need to try the PS4 controller as that's the only thing that is still making me lean towards the XB1, I hate the PS3 controller, playing The Last of Us and it's an awesome game but I am longing for my 360 pad!

If they have sorted the controller then PS4 first and probably a XB1 about a year later, if the controller still sucks then XB1 first with PS4 about a year later! :)

I don't agree with some of the MS decisions but they don't actually impact me much/at all and I don't see any point boycotting them when I know there will be exclusive games on the XB1 that I'll want to play.

if thats true, $10k to fire a patch out is disturbing as hell.
According to the podcasts I listen to it's actually $30,000. That came from an interview with a fairly well known Indie dev who couldn't justify the cost of releasing another patch. I think it was Fez.

Yes, Fez. Think it was a Giantbomb podcast I heard the gory details on.

PS I'm not a big fan of anything MS is doing these days; they and the plot departed in opposite direction a while ago. I'll probably buy a PS4 *if* they still support my wheel. It was PS3 and GT5 or 360 and Forza, but the XBox is a lot more fussy about which wheels it'll support, so I went PS3. Now the inclusion of Drive Club in the PSN package makes a subscription to start with rather attractive.

I decided last year to trade in my xbox and get a ps3, now not only do I not have to pay subscription costs, I can also play the awesome GT5. Not only that... I can play it with my G25 wheel... Huzaahhh. Microsoft have always been greedy, yet the consumer still paid.

The Xbox One is now a step further, phase 3. How to create a comsumer product with even more multiple revenue streams than the previous generation. We'll make it into a smart TV, we'll make the kinect compulsory, this means that people will always have the option to buy kinect games... Yayy $$$. Let's remove the second hand market $$$. Let's keep our subscription fees yayy $$$.

Has anyone realised yet that the Xbox one isn't £429 it's £469 as I'm guessing you will need Xbox Live Gold to even use its features nevermind game online like the current console.

Sony are out to get everyone's money too but that's business as usual, I'd much rather support them though. They actually researched what the comsumer would want, and also researched how not to anger people in general.

Aren't there third party ps3 pads that are just like the 360 one ?

No Wii U option ? that console will have the best games the next 2 years

i wouldn't like to put money on anything other than new nintendo games coming in 2 years for the wii u, even ubisoft is making noises that it needs to sell more or they could be pulling their support.

as for next gen, i guess it is next gen in the time frame but its not exactly a jump in technology.

Both I expect. I've never bought a console near release - usually been a year or two later. Tended to lean towards Playstation as I was a massive GranTurismo fan but am happy with both PS3 and 360 at the moment. I hope the new controller is better, the PS1/2/3 ones were just tiny and awkward.

PS4, maybe an XboxOne a year or two down the line when they are dirt cheap, I feel they have lost the plot somewhat .

I really don't think Major Nelson does himself or MS any favours in this interview, comes across very bad in a couple of his answers.

That makes it sound like you cant simultaneously play games in your family list if someone else is playing them yet you are the main owner. He says its like a library where games can be checked out so I guess its only one player at a time.

Least thats been cleared up...

EDIT: Just watched it all - my god that bloke is a douche...
EDIT2: Ahh seems 2 family members can play the same game same time but only if its SP for both

ps3ud0
