Which Wax?

Autoglym super resin is great on the side windows, makes them nice and smooth too.

Ive polished mine this weekend and waxed one seide with some old turtle wax (proper wax though) Very happy with the results, very shiny even though it is silver.

Just need to get a clay bar and do it properly

The results of two days work :(

Still, the paint feels awesome and looks great when the sun catches it.

2 coats of Super Resin Polish, 1 Coat of Extra Gloss Protection and 2 coats of Collinite 476S. Claybar'd before I started as well.
Its a pain. I can understand the attraction of silver as its a colour that doesnt get dirty unless its really bad, but when you spend hours on it as you have done pictures do little if no justice. I imagine close up it would look stunning.

PS, your tyre tread has sandy gravel on it and isn't black enough. Don't you jack your car up and back to black the cross section of tyre too? ;) :D

Squirt of Megs Quick Detailer on an applicator pad, rub the pad in the Collinite, wipe on to entire car, buff off with microfiber cloth.

I've got some close up panel pics I'll post when I'm back home.

I thing I cant stand about BMW is their ability to ruin a smooth car by sticking the washer jets on the bonnet as opposed to in the scuttle tray. Arrrgh!

To be honest thats the only real disadvantage of Silver - it looks 'great' all the time, unfortunately, it also only looks 'great' after it's just been detailed whereas a darker car would look 'awesome'. I also did Dads Slate Green 530d and that looked like I'd done so much more to it - in reality, I'd done exactly the same thing.

But silver is so easy to look after - it masks swirls so well you can only see them under artificial light, it's always clean and respectable, it hides marks and when polished and waxed properly it does look awesome close up - just not so great in photos or from a distance.

Yea, blame Dartmoor for that :p

I caught some white paint in my wheel arch, flicked up by the tyres. Its not messy but go looking for it and you'll find it. After reading the golf thread I'm tempted to pull it out and Vinyl paint it.

Is that anal?

No, I took the wheels off and cleaned the inside. Well, one side, I got bored so I didnt do the other side :p

The glass polish, proper polish, not available from Halfrauds, is good good stuff. I currently have a small drop left from a detailing friend that he decanted into an Evian water bottle for me. I NEED MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Auto-Glym Glass Polish, the blue stuff? Always has been available from my local Halfords, perhaps not from smaller branches.

Would putting the Collinite on the car by hand offer any benefits over an applicator pad?
