If you're able to print cable combs
The enclosed ones look better
And the cables don't pop out like open ones
Not sure if you could either print them hinged?
Or in 2 halves that click together?
Yep - if you can imagine it, you can print it! I'll have a Google around and see what's out there and I can design something tomorrow.

It's nice as you can print it absolutely perfectly to fit every corner and crevice, so worth doing I say!

Sorry I don’t (and I have googled). So bear with me, imagine for example the 24 flat PSU cable, the biggest one, and imagine an “s” shape recess behind the mobo tray about 10mm deep that you can push that cable into so it’s not flopping about. Like the open part of a dovetail joint (I’m winging this bit because I think thats what the shape is called in woodwork I assume you would know if that was correct!)
Hmm I 'think' I know what you mean, let me try modelling something tomorrow and see if that's what you mean!

My next PC case I think

I know it's cheating
But as mentioned got zero artistic/creative talent
But if you use something like
Adobe firefly or any AI that can generate images
From text prompts
It actually comes up with some really nice
Wooden pc cases
The trick as always is playing around
With the prompts for a while

Not that I think the OP is lacking in talent anyway
Unlike myself

That’s it thankyou, just cut into the wood….so flush :D
Ah got it! Yes this is easy peasy! Cool, I'll do that then - only challenge will be me working out where all the cables go and not getting it wrong before I get the router out!! Thinking I could do a routed channel for them all and then 3d print a transparent cover for the channel also - I'll have a think!

The Corsair shift series have the connections on the side of the PSU instead of the rear if that's helps.

Also the decorative wood on the side panel if you can duplicate that or something simmlar on the space by the side of the motherboard inside the case think it would look awesome.

Darn already bought my PSU! Not a biggie as I have designed around this, so should be ok.

Well I can do whatever we fancy really!! That's a great idea actually, could create some nice depth - I'll pinch that idea!

How will you finish the top of the case covering the aio ?

You could create a chamber so you get a solid wood finish look but would add a little height to the case .

This case has an air chamber in the roof.

Sorry I'm making more work for you.

Yes I think that's a nice idea actually! Added!

I'm thinking I'll have the case blending from organic to industrial, so I'll have a few branches reaching across the top of the case, but that'll be largely some sort of industrial design, so I might come up with some sort industrial grille or something to cover the fans.... Hmmm

So many choices look forward to some updated drawings.

Goodnight.

Gonna be a good one, looking forward.

I wouldn't bother with EL wire though. I tried it when I hit some issues with a motherboard lighting ring and it's just not very nice. It's dim, the colour itself feels dirty (like low CRI LEDs do) and the inverters always buzz and whine like a mother trucker.

I'd strongly suggest looking at COB LED strips and you can get some really slim ones now. Don't cheap out with no-name Chinese tat because their specs are always wrong and teh CRI is disgusting. I have a reel of 12V 3mm wide cool white which is spot on, but you can also get fully addressable versions too.

Good tips here- you got any links to the 3mm addressable ones? Definitely need it to be individually addressable so I can chuck a microcontroller on it for some fun!

This looks like it's going to be wonderful! I look forward to your progress. I have considered constructing a case but never even thought of wood. Exciting to see.

Do you envisage any movement or warping of the wood with the heat generated? Just a thought as I have no idea how wood should be treated.

Alas no, but I've been hunting through the more reputable parts of AliExpress for years now and I see promising things there. The specific white COB strip I referred to I got on Amazon.

Direct links would be seen as competitor linking though.

Thank you! Be sure to laugh when I create a burning mess and it all goes wrong! :D :D :D :D

No I don't think so, I'm fairly comfortable working with wood - walnut is pretty well-behaved in that respect, I'll give it a good finish and it should be stable forever (obviously PC cases don't tend to suffer from too much humidity anyway, this causes the warping... and if it does, then the wood will be the least of my concerns!)
