I didnt make it out to be super healthy, I just said what it is....Compared to White bread a slow releasing carb with fibre.

I didnt make out white bread to be super bad for you either, I just said the way it is, compared to brown bread it has very little fibre and once digested is turned into glucose and fast releasing energy.

Slow releasing carbs with a good diet= Promotes the body to keep muscle and burn fat

Too much fast releasing carbs/glucose= body uses this as energy thus stores fat.

Of course everything is fine in moderation and you can eat white bread and be perfectly healthy, I was just explaining it the way it is.

This post I completely agree with :)

Nobody is arguing against the point that white bread is less healthy for you than wholemeal bread.

The alarmist cack you're posting is what we have issues with as it's borne of the sort of daily mail stupidity that you see a lot online.

Stupidity is eating substances that cause serious disease and not even looking into it when it's pointed out to you. Moderation is fine but it's perfectly normal to eat white bread for breakfast (toast) and lunch (sandwiches) EVERY DAY. This is like pouring sugar straight down your throat (for the insulin response), but you don't realise that, and nor would you without it being pointed out.

I would argue that stupidity is being able to read through evidence and draw completely the wrong conclusions from it.

I'm perfectly aware of GI and effect on blood sugar. I'm also able to understand that correlation does not equal causation, which is something you are clearly struggling with, based on your two posts above (e.g. your point about diabetes and the suggestion that it is directly linked to the consumption of white bread).

It's great that you're trying to educate people regarding the health benefits of wholemeal bread. It's just a shame that you can't present the information in a reasoned manner rather than the alarmist and frankly over the top way that you have. Some of your points stretch the facts to the point of absurdity.

Smoking sounds healthy in comparison to eating white bread. Maybe I'll take that up again :)

I think we all know diabetes is not caused purely by white bread hence my comment "More refined food, more diabetes and bread is one of the worst, period. "

You have a fair point about the alarmist nature of posting, but it would take a me a long time to get all the articles and facts in one place, and going on the ignorant way I've been shot down it's not worth my time.

It's not my health I'm putting at risk. People eat cereals for breakfast, bread for lunch. These things are marketed as healthy but when you start looking at the facts they are anything but. That's why I said people need to read up on this (immediately shot down with, I'm spouting **** and I'm the one that needs to read up - despite the fact I've spent many many hours researching diet and health).

Breads not that good for you - all that processed wheat etc. As with all processed foods.. The coarser and less refined the better.. Hence white breads so bad for you, bleached wheat etc

Wholemeal Bread you get at your local bakery is a good source of Carbohydrate, much like brown pasta/rice.

But yeh some of the Brown bread you get in the supermarkets are still heavily processed.

I'll bite. Post me me ONE SINGLE SCIENTIFIC PAPER that proves your claim. I don't want 'all the articles and facts'. I want one, single, peer reviewed journal publication. I'll be waiting.

As Mark Corrigan correctly states in an inner monologue whist making toast:

Mark Corrigan: [voiceover] Brown for first course, white for pudding. Brown's savoury, white's the treat. ' 'Course I'm the one who's laughing because I actually love brown toast.

White, preferably sourdough.

Brown is ok but often too sweet without enough grain. White doesn't have any grain granted, but it's also nowhere near as sweet as most brown bread I've tried.
And other breads (rye and flavoured breads) I buy but not on a regular occasion.
