Who Do You Support? 2011 Edition.

We used to have some right good chats about Leeds, fact of the matter is there were only really 2 prominent posters about Leeds, one left the forum and you stopped posting.

In fact iirc correctly you wanted to talk about Boro more than anyone ;)

At the time they were in the Prem so I got answers back. Talking about a Champ team with Prem supporters doesn't work anymore :(

I agree, personally I think we should have a thread for each club. If well moderated there shouldn't be much trolling to be had. At the moment most would have to sign up to a dedicated forum if one wanted to discuss goings on at Newcastle for instance
How exactly is a "Newcastle thread" that quickly disappears off the front page due to lack of interest going to encourage their fans to post though?

Megathreads like that were stopped for a reason - because they just end up with segregated posters only interested in their own team, or those after an excuse to troll. I'd much rather see things discussed on a story-by-story basis, and I really don't see why people get their knickers in a twist when a relatively trivial issue gets posted in a whole new thread - That thread will come and go, and no-one will be any the worse for it.

I used to read loads of the games forum a few years back, but now everything related to a particular game has to go in its own thread, I stay pretty much well away. If I'm late to a game, I don't want to have to read through hundreds of posts of people going "OOH CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS" or "OMG LOOK AT THIS YOUTUBE" to "gg last nite guys lol" just to get someone's actual opinion on it, or to solve an issue I have. It's unneccesary, bloated, and leads to an incredibly cliquey environment (even more so than it is now).

I would definitely post here a lot less if I had to most of it in an "Arsenal discussion thread".

Chances of Leeds getting promoted this season? I know they lost quite heavily at the weekend but they're still in the promotion places aren't they?

Amen.

Reverend Weeb, ripping it up, Aaaaiiiii.

True. I'd love to speak about Leeds but who is going to interact with me? No one :D
What, you mean other than the bloke who used to pretty much run this place and still posts here all the time?

Mrbios still posts about and is a Leeds fan, isn't he? Plus I still have a bit of a soft spot for Hull*, since it's good for winding up my Leeds mate.

*Breathing down your neck, by the way. Keep an eye out. ;)

Maybe just a general football thread needs to be started then, problem with just creating threads for every news story some are closed with no explanation given i.e. The Neville Retires thread. Absoloutly no reason whatsoever for that thread being closed IMO

Having a thread for those clubs that are well represented on the forum gives the platform for discussion about that club or it's players

I created a thread on exactly that issue and suggesting splitting threads into ones for organising games and 'banter' and one for actually discussing the mechanics, balance, and overall aspects of the game. I don't think it lasted a day on the first page and the limited responses I did get seemed to suggest it wasn't a problem.

There seems to be a reoccurring theme of people being annoyed by cheets.

I don't think that many people are actually annoyed by cheets. A lot of the people that give him **** appear to do so just because you do and hope by agreeing with you, you'll leave them alone :p

Damage limitation, it was already being discussed in another thread which then leads to 2 separate discussions, it was also going to be trolled to **** which it already was within 10 posts.

Rat boy, thug all sorts of crap people were coming out with so it was obvious it was going to be closed.

Re: Discussing the Championship

I'd welcome that - I'd especially be interested in hearing from someone who knows about Reading's big push for promotion in terms of investment a few years ago and subsequent collapse. For instance most of their better players are now playing in the Premiership, especially Wolves.

Like I said before, I don't discriminate, do you ever see me replying to posts that these said posters make?

No, they are on ignore :)

I have more United fans on ignore than anyone else and DM of course.

We already do discuss clubs and players. If we can't be bothered to talk about Sunderland now, how is a Sunderland thread going to inspire us to do so? I can post "that Nedum Onuoha looks a bit decent" in any thread that fits, I don't need to be shown where.

There was no reason to close the Neville thread, I agree, but isn't that a good example of my points? Instead of being allowed its own seperate discussion, it got lumped into another thread where several conversations ended up cluttering on top of each other.

A general football thread has to be the strangest suggestion I've heard yet. What's the point of having a football forum if you want everything posted in one general thread? Might as well move this all back into Sports then.

Like who? :D

I won't name them but it's painfully obvious who a few of them are.

There certainly are a few people that genuinely get annoyed by cheets but there's just as many of G|mp's clingers on who see G|mp say something to cheets and constantly repeat it.

Woah, don't lump me in with the numpties!

I ignore them like I said, I only see what they post if someone quotes them.
