Thing is, its not really the BBC that is responsible in this case, its the production company for Masterchef and whatever other shows that are affected.I think it's about time the BBC becomes a testing ground for making it's execs liable for not acting earlier.
This aspect was well explained on the The Rest Is Entertainment podcast by Richard Osman, it is extremely unlikely that anyone at the BBC would have been made aware of these issues as the production company in all likeliness kept it quiet and potentially glossed over any complaints or put up a good front to the BBC bosses when needed in order to not affect the future of their show. The BBC really have very little to do with the actual production of Masterchef.
Maybe there should be more accountability within the BBC, but in my opinion this story is entirely the wrong thread to pull. Should there have been more accountability within the production company in question? Absolutely.
