Who else hates this guy (Gregg Wallace)?

Anyone got any idea why John Torode who's he's shared the screen with for 20 years hasn't said a single word on the issue ?
I believe John once said they weren't really friends, but after that long co-hosting a show I'd expect a bit of support.
According to the BBC article put up this afternoon he doesn't want to comment while there's an ongoing investigation (or he doesn't want to say anything until he knows the outcome in case it bites him in the backside).

And yet he was best man at his wedding.

I've no interest in defending Wallace, but I do think it's a BS knee-jerk reaction to start pulling episodes of things like Masterchef.
As others have said, the programme isn't just about GW. It's about the contestants and all the time, effort and hard work they put in to earn their moments on screen, so the idea of 'cancelling' all those other people and denying them their moment on screen just so a few people don't get "triggered" by seeing something they don't like on TV is just ridiculous....

It's not like GW has raped or beaten anyone. He's not Jimmy Saville or Gary Glitter, he's just a bit of a bell-end...

Damn, surprisingly... I agree with ttaskmaster!

He might well have been a sleazy douchebag (and that's perhaps worthy of disciplinary offence internally or being sacked even) but there doesn't seem to be much re: the physical allegations (unless more comes out).

He's apparently brushed past a woman and touched another woman's bum (hand too low?). There's one allegation of a partially exposed penis that was perceived as a "power play" but also with the context that it was in his dressing room!

It does seem to be another example of the dumb celebrity/"talent" culture at the BBC and elsewhere in the media where some "star" can openly be a massive **** and it's permitted. For example this allegation - not a criminal office, just Greg allegedly being a **** quite openly on set and a complaint allegedly being lodged but seemingly the BBC not caring:

I guess also the BBC wanted a common-sounding/working-class guy, former market trader/grocer etc.. and that's what they got!

Yeah, bit odd. I think Gregg likes to think as John as a close friend, but it doesn't seem to be recipricated.

"Famously the two have never been round each other's houses and while Torode was best man at Wallace’s 2016 wedding to Anna-Marie, it’s said the pair’s relationship is fraught.

Torode told the Mirror in 2017: “We’ve never been friends”.
He added: “If we go away to somewhere like South Africa, we do things separately. If we do go out for a drink, I'll invariably be at one end of a big old table, and he'll be at the other."

Remember similar when Huw made the news, so the caveat should be..... it's not that big of a deal so far, yeah GW is unprofessional but it seems professionalism in the world of media is a different beast to other fields of professionalism and as I said before it's not like the BBC doesn't have a brand image of being known for nonces and sexual deviants

Makes me think tarode is even more of a *****. Who needs a so called mate like that :s sad

Torode is obviously saying little because he is in a no win situation.

He stood next to the bloke for years - so if he says he saw/heard nothing then he will be in the wrong. If he says he did see/hear stuff then he is guilty for not saying anything at the time. So best course of action - make teh right sympathetic noises then say nothign else while hiding behind teh investigation.

His time on the social media scaffold will come I would imagine.

yep it's the diagnosis that must not be named otherwise the media would be ostracizing all that proportion of the population - autism & mild aspergers?

what annoys me about our media is the drip feed. once I can accept. twice a coincidence but every time a tiny snippet gets released about someone being up to something, just enough to get tongues wagging and get the clicks in,.then once the scandal starts to die down up the anti by releasing some more.

it happened with Scofield, then Edwards and now Wallace.

When the first reports came out I thought he was being treated a bit too harshly, too many people being too easily offended and being a bit the old shape of snow. But the amount of stuff that's come out now ... this is more than just the odd bad taste joke, it's obvious now the guy is a complete sex pest.

Probably nothing illegal, but behaviour that would have got them sacked by any other employer long ago.

At another meeting for the book, Kyle said that, during a restaurant meal, the TV presenter made other sexualised comments, including: “If you won't let me sleep with you, would you lick my [anus]?"

Ahh, yes that completely normal cheeky banter you'd say to any women in a work environment that only the permanently offended would have an issue with

Those earlier in the thread stating this is not news and he has done nothing wrong must be a bit shook by now.

If someone said that to my partner and they told me, they would not work for the individual, nor be alone with him without me present.
Plus they would get slapped about a bit.

You cannot defend this type of behaviour, its only a couple of steps away from predatory.

which links back to one of my earlier posts in this thread..... I strongly disagree with the where there is smoke there is fire people (though admittedly it has panned out for most of this BBC lot lately) .
imo the 1st things which were shown such as that ladies lemon tart and what not WERE a bit of risky banter much like you see in many offices and other programs such as British bake off or even family game shows etc.
however the accusations have slowly ramped up.

the question is is this people who have been given the confidence to speak out after the fact now the story has surfaced....

or did the media have these stories ready to go and have drip fed it into the media to make the most profit?

either way I don't think it's fair to play captain hindsite and make out those who were potentially defending GW somewhat at the beginning were also suggesting that exposing himself and touching women up was fair game.
