Who has given up/thinking of,smoking recently ?

3 Months 3 weeks for me, Cold turkey and still going strong. I smoked for 8 years 10/15 per day.

My partner also gave up, she read the Allen Carr book.

I found crystal meth to be much more effective.

I didn't, chain smoked all night!

I've been using an e-cig (there was a thread a while back that rekindled my interest in it) for the last 2 weeks and it's the best thing I've ever done. I still have my bedtime smoke as a treat (it's my favourite cigarette), because it was the hardest to give up, but now just because I like it. For the rest of the day, I don't smoke, I vape. What was so astounding was that it was easy. A good e-cig is just grand. I had a rubbish one about a year ago that was nothing but trouble, but this time around it's just been dead easy. In the 2 weeks I've had it, I've not smoked 210 cigarettes I normally would've smoked. I consider that a win. Especially because I can use my e-cig on the bus, inside my place of work, in restaurants etc. Cheaper, healthier, easier. And I still get to "smoke". WIN

I only ever used to smoke about 5 a day, but they were all linked to certain activities, like going to work, before lunch etc
have stopped that now but always smoke if I'm out drinking but that doesn't really bother me, apart from the smell anyway!

Father dying in hospital from lung cancer caused by 30 years smoking (he'd given up for 15 years but the damage had been done) caused me to stop and go cold turkey. Was so easy this time around even though I'd really struggled on patches the other two times I'd given up.

Perhaps I just lacked a proper reason to give up to give motivation and determination.

Don't miss it one bit.

Need some advice...

I am 6 months smoke free BUT addicted to the NiQuitin lozenges. I have gone from 4mg > 2mg and now im on 1mg Boots brand ones. I dont feel the need to smoke, but I cant stop taking these lozenges. Anyone else had that problem? If I dont have them I sit at my desk at work grinding my teeth or pacing about. What is the best way to get off the lozenges?

Keep taking them until next time you go for a week in the sun somewhere. You've broken the habit, but not the addiction. Like I said before the best way to break the addiction is to change your surroundings.

After running out of rizla's the other day. And trying to make a cig from post it notes, newspapers and then paying £5 for one packet of rizla's i aint ready yet!!!

But have thought about it!

You are a desperate man, but at least your thread was amusing :p When I was a student I used to go around my halls and empty people's ash trays into mine so I could make cigarettes out of their butts. Then I'd make cigarettes out of those butts. They tasted like soap.

It sucks being addicted to anything, especially when you don't enjoy it anymore. Saying that, I'm still addicted to nicotine, but at least I can enjoy it guilt free no. :)

My boyfriend used to smoke around 15 a day, from when he was about 15 until around 22. He gave up, nearly 2 years ago now, had a couple of slips and still sometimes when he's been drinking, does steal a couple of smokes off his friends, but on the whole is totally stopped.

Recently though (over the last couple of weeks), about 3 or 4 times he's come home smelling smoky and has said he's had either 1 or 2.

I've never been a smoker so can't fully understand it - does it sound like he's slipping back into being a smoker again? He says he's not starting again and doesn't want to, says he's not stressed or worried... Should I just leave it?
I really hate smoking (never liked it anyway but then had a close family member die of lung cancer due to smoking) and I think I'd find it really hard if he was to go back to it...

Been vaping for around 9 months now. Don't miss cigarettes at all. :)

In fact, I realise just how much I must have stank, and it's great not to wake up with a cough in the mornings.

Been off them for 5 weeks now.

Was using a Nicorrette inhaler thingy but stopped using it now, unless I go to the pub. Alcohol gives me massive cravings still.

The inhaler thing is the next best thing.
