Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

They got a new mk8 ST-Line/fake ST at work and it's definitely more mundane looking and fatter.

The dash looks better quality but they ruined it with the silly satnav screen sticking out of it like some kind of bodged in ipad. I don't know why manufacturers keep doing it, looks awful. They should be integrated and flush.

Each to their own and all.. It's a step backwards from all angles imo.

We agree on the back at least :D

I'm interested to see what VW and Peugeot offer next. Got a 208 GTi by Peugeot Sport at the moment (and changing to VW Up GTi....at some point) and I went with the 208 over an ST due to the ST having a drab interior, and the 208 PS having LSD and a bit more exclusivity. At least this one they've fixed up the interior and made LSD an option, but then I reckon it will also be a victim of it's success and be stupidly popular, even if it is limited tuning wise being a 1.5l 3 cyclinder turbo. That's more of a case of "welcome to the future, deal with it" though, and I imagine other companies will follow suit...

Interested to hear thoughts on them. I'll be needing to replace the stock tyres in the coming months, not sure yet what to go with but the PilotSports are high on the list.

So far they're great. They don't come in standard size though so you need to order 215/45 R17 rather than 205/40 R17. Don't worry they fit fine :).

You can get Pilot Sport 3's on the normal size, but the Pilot Sport 4's are better tires.

Ive heard there planning on sticking that in the next Focus ST aswell and giving it 260bhp :( grim. The next Focus should at least be another 2.0T pushing 300bhp the way hot hatches are getting quicker these days. Part of the fun of owning the older ST225 was the epic noise and saying it has a 2.5 Turbo which most people knew anyway it just won’t have the same effect telling people you have an ST then saying it has a 1.5 litre engine lol

Been out in the new ST today. Drove both standard and Performance Pack versions. Great little car. No need to worry about that triple – it's a punchy powerplant and very characterful. Clear a lot of enthusiasts have worked on this car as whole.

Definitely go for the PP (hehe), though, just for the LSD alone (the PP-spec shift light is so small as to be irrelevant, the launch control not really necessary). The standard car is still very enjoyable and competent but the PP makes it far quicker out of corners and a lot more entertaining. Likes to get on three wheels, regardless, though!

You can flat shift in Sport & Track modes, too...

People will get used to the looks, I remember the backlash on the MK7 but it matured well. Same with the engine, does it really matter if its 3 or 4 cylinder if it does the job?

I still don't think the mk7 has matured after all this time, it still looks bland and less interesting than the Zetec S. I'm looking at the mk8 as a potential next car in the next 1-2yrs but I'll see how it goes, one reason I didn't buy a mk7 was it being almost a victim of it's own success and I got sick of seeing them on every street (Yes, I disliked a car for being too good :P)

I hated that they were everywhere as well. I even moved house while I had it and the new neighbor had one, which was a bit embarrassing. It's a bit like turning up in the same clothes :/

I don't get that issue with the GT86 which replaced it lol.

When I did the NC500 I saw well over 20 MK7 STs in a week, when I parked up at the border another pulled in beside me. Not really bothered about expressing my individuality with a mass produced car though.

I don't know why having the same car as someone else is a bad thing. If something is very popular it's usually for a good reason. I love my ST and if I really wanted it to be individual I am sure I could go out of my way to do something to it to make it that.

I bought it because people raved about how good it is as a drivers car and I am absolutely not disappointed.
