Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

I have one of the old classic djkel kits... The Mountune one is the same but they cut the pipe from the rack to fit the cooler there. Mine comes from the return feed so no cutting of pipes. Already been a few problems with there cooler :(. Make 100% sure the piped are exactly where the pics show or it will rub on the drive shaft which Is very very bad lol

Tbh, the whole IB5 gearbox is awful in the ST. Mine never goes into reverse properly and 3 can be a pig to select. Other than that, couldn't be happier with my Fezza!

It's not perfect, but it's not too bad. The IB5 box doesn't have a synchro on reverse, so I shift to third then into reverse and it goes straight in. 5th could do with being longer though. Don't have any problem with 3rd on mine? :/

1st 3.583
2nd 2.038
3rd 1.414
4th 1.108
5th 0.878

I've never had a problem with 3rd, but mine has popped out of first a few times, but that might have been my fault. Reverse is a total pain, even going to 3rd first it doesn't always go in first time! Even when it goes in you can tell it doesn't like being in reverse!

Cheers mate, I'll leave it for a couple of months then until the issues have been resolved (I heard lots of people say some piping is too short or something).

On a plus note, me and a friend just changed the green LED's for red ones (To match my Sony headunit) on my electric window switches and window heater switches. Going to be doing behind the heater controls and headlight unit next week hopefully :D

Think i'd prefer to do my own PAS. I can understand they have spent money on designing one but I can't see why they didn't use the return to the pas tank? The M-Sport kit does that. Hell if you already have a pas relocation then it's even easier to plumb in a cooler.

Driftworks do a pas cooler along with hose and fittings (from what I can see) for about £68 - http://www.driftworks.com/shop/power-steering-cooler-kit.html which uses the same sized tubing.

Been trying to decide what my next steps are. Seems as though the little scrotes who live around by me enjoy taking parts off the car so I cba with external styling stuff anymore.

Thinking about a rear ARB before Christmas and then next year either MR200 or a rebuilt gearbox with quaife, standard clutch and a slightly different/longer final drive/5th gear. They both work out at about the same price.

MR200 won't be around forever and i'd be gutted to miss out on it but I'd be happier (and probably quicker) having an almost bullet proof gearbox which drags me out of the corners.

I also have squeaky front brakes so I need to re-build those with some more copper grease as it's doing my nut!

Back to Fiesta's. I'm after a catback. Pretty much decided on a Miltek. But I don't know if i want Res or Non-Res! ahhh! decisions decisions

I had the Non-Res fitted to mine about a week ago and I think it's great. To be honest it's not that loud even on the motorway which seems to buck most people's opinions of it.

If i'm driving around town at 30 and in 5th gear I can barely hear anything unless I start going up a hill and accelerating.

On the motorway 70 is a bit noisy, but if you speed up to 75 the noise isn't as bad. Note that I did this on ... errr... a private motorway.

Edit: Oh i'll add that I have the 4-1 manifold too.

I was thinking Non-Res tbh! I just don't want to spend all that money and get something TOO loud, then again, i don't want the opposite to happen either!

30mph in 5th?

Yes, this is not unheard of. My ST will happily drive at 30 in 5th

Yeah, if i'm going along a straight boring road at 30 for a long way I always drop it into 5th, brings the revs right down and the 2litre engine easily has enough torque just to keep it going with me barely touching the throttle. If I ever need to speed up like if I hit a 40 zone i'll just change to 4th. Sometimes I can go for ages in 5th.

Don't forget the Fiesta ST IB5 gearbox has really short ratios. It would be rubbish in longer geared cars.

On the exhaust topic, I know a few people who have gone with the res because they're scared of the non-res being too loud later to regret it.

I do keep reading this a lot! Apparently the Res sounds great for the first few weeks, but once it beds in, it quietens down a bit? Does that sound about right?

Pretty much decided on non-res. Not to mention that the Non-res is about 80quid cheaper!

My non-res got louder after it bedded in :D Here's a sample of it in my car (Yes the exhaust was blowing at the time but gives you a good idea :) )

My non-res Milltek with standard cat/manifold and K&N.

Go for the non res, the Milltek exhausts are quiet when you want them to be, and loud when you don't (but not ridiculously so). As said, you're only going to notice it being loud when you put your foot down or when traveling over 60-65mph.

Well that's pretty much decided it for me! Non-res it is! That set up is what I'd be running. K&N with Non-Res on standard cat/manifold. Maybe chuck a Miltek Flexi in there at some point!

Sounds exactly what I want! Nice a rumbly with a few pops and crackles here and there! :D Is it next payday yet? :p How long are we looking at to bed stuff in?

Oh hi there Yarde;) I'm protocol over on STOC.

I'm getting my milltek non-res cat back and manifold fitted on the 22nd. Need my cur during week else I would have been able to get it fitted earlier than that.
