Who here owns a Mini?

Here are some of my past minis:

I currently own two minis, the first of which is my daily driver and is a 2014 2.0 Turbo F56 Cooper S, currently being used to developing mapping. It currently sits roughly around 300bhp with 460nm:

The second is a 2005 Supercharged R53 Cooper S which I purchased back in March and I am currently building into a track focused car, yes it started off blue:

How does the new mini compare with the older ones?

Does it still feel as agile and nimble?

They certainly feel bigger in comparison to the R53 and R56s... not sure how they compare to the Clubman as I never got round to driving one. They are a lot of fun though, love the noise my F56 makes and it's only stock and ran on V Power. It's an absolute hoot to drive but doesn't feel as go cartish as my old R53 did, however I will be very sad to see it go in October.

For the time being its a daily commute car haha, but its almost too nice for that so I am tempted to buy something for £500 to take me to work and back so I don't put loads of miles on the Mini. I paid top whack for it tbh. About £13k which is right at the top end of the market for one. I knew that but was prepared to pay it. Prices are all over the show really, if you can find one. Between 9k and 14k.

I'd be tempted in one for £13k. It's a great car.

Also looking at Corrado Storms at the moment..

Fantastic :D

I'm not usually a F56 fan but that does look superb must be damn fast as well.

I always admired your grey R53!

Thank you, I get that quite a lot. I hated the F56 but it grew on me. Same with the R56 when that was released.

As West said really. I find in stock form the F56 is more BMW than ever and is the most refined new mini yet. However with a change to coilovers and better tyres its just as good, if not better than the R53/R56. Especially with the increased power I now have :D

Well my JCW has gone, no reserve auction, took a bit of a hit but I just wanted rid of it, sat there doing nothing apart from losing money anyway.

Will be back to just the works van again as I can't justify the expense of owning a car really, the Mini didn't work out as I expected so I'll chalk it up as an expensive experiment.

My factory specced Cooper Works. Totally standard except the Eibach 30mm lowering springs it sits on. I've owned (and still own) quite a few different cars, from a 350z to a TVR Chimaera (the Fox isn't mine, honest....) and I'm always suprised by the amount of attention the Mini gets. It's truly a great little car:)

Got 4 excellent condition used Goodyear Eagle F1A2's from eBay the other day. £70 for all four on auction - bargain. Chap has a CTR and is swapping them for track day tyres.

The best bit is that I'll likely sell the Dunlop runflats for a net profit. Great success!

They should be fine on track for my purposes at the moment. I don't want to go full balls out track car with my MCS so I think the most performance tyre I'll go for is some Michelin Pilot Super Sports next. They'll be great on track and road alike.

But £70 for 4 decent tyres - I could hardly say no!!
