Who here owns a Mini?

You should try the 1.5 yourself first as I found the same with the 1.5 - it's really much better than you'd think

Extra ~150kg for a Clubman over the hatch.

Drove the 1.5 hatch today and it has a satisfying punch when in sport mode.

I went from a manual JCW hatch to an auto Cooper S clubman. The loss of power is easily felt and for me 2.0 has just enough welly to make it not feel slow. Plus the 8 speed box helps a ton keeping it riding the torque, and short ratios to help acceleration.

Question on the Mini 'comfort entry' set up. I assume you have to press the little button on the door to open the car, do you have to press it again to lock it when you get out or does it lock automatically when you walk away with the key in your pocket?

Have there been any issues with either the 1.5 or 2.0 Petrols (or indeed the GPF equipped cars)?

Potentially looking at a replacement for our 1.5 Ecoboost Kuga if the coolant leak turns out to be terminal, and the Wife quite likes the look of an F60 Countryman.

Only real requirements from her seem to be Bluetooth/Cruise control/Parking Sensors, and if possible heated seats (which seem to be quite a common option on the Countryman). From my point of view only running costs and reliability are a requirement :)

It don't think it locks automatically, you have to press the button on the fob or door. I'll test it on mine later as I've got comfort access.

I also just press the button. Though the car has locked it self a few times. I'm not sure the conditions needed for that to happen.

You have to press the button on the door handle or the key. It will not auto lock when you walk away.

We went into a dealer at the weekend with thoughts of getting the 2L, but after another test drive in a 1.5 have decided we'll be more than happy with that engine. A surprisingly nippy car.

Just bumping this as could do with some feedback?
Personally, between me and my Dad, we've had 6 current gen Mini's. One with the 1.5l and the other 5 with the 2L. Never had an issue with either. The 2L used is the BMW B48 engine. Widely used throughout BMW models as well, so if there were major/common issues, we would know about them by now.

Concensus they're solid motors with no major issues. I'm on my fifth year with the 2.0 B48 and that's been my experience as well.

Appreciate the feedback - have just put a deposit down on a Melting Silver Countryman Cooper S
