Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Where did you get the replacement sticker from?

Yes, it'd look much better with a shiny inlet - I just plan on giving it a couple of coats of high temp paint from an aerosol, after a degrease and a ride in the dishwasher first.

What are the main common problems, and do much go wrong with them?
Mechanically, nothing. Electronically, everything :)

I've not known Clios to be any worse than any other hatchback. There are a few things that can be expensive (belts) but on the whole they are solid.

Good, hopefully I can be right on this one. I don't mind electrics going too much, should be able to sort most of that myself.

Lets hope he is proved wrong :p

Took the 182 on a track day yesterday and have to say i am very impressed. Copy and pasted from another forum...

Haha, i've never had so much fun in my life, problem is i can't wait until the next track day now.

Some thoughts about the car...

Power wise, surprisingly, im happy. Of course i would like more, but its the least of my troubles at the moment. The major issue is handling. While it might be one of the best handling hot hatches around, it still understeers like a mother ****** when pushed to far. I had to fight sooooooooo hard with the steering to keep it in shape. The brakes are ok. The seemed to boil VERY quickly (after 4 laps) which means i had to keep coming in for 30mins. They don't inspire massive confidence, but they are far from terrible, and i don't have 1k for some 4 pots, so they will have to do :p

I don't recall ever feeling the car to be "boaty", infact quite the opposite. The cars initial turn in was pin sharp, and it seemed pretty flat throughout the corner. Apart from the understeer, it was a pleasure to drive. So well balanced and not at any point did i feel out of control. Plans are definitely going to include the purchase of a rear ARB, this should stiffen up the rear and help induce a bit of oversteer. Shame i couldn't afford to get some grippy new tyres for today as i feel they really let me down.

Oh and apparently i drive a robin reliant? :D:D

Any photos of my wheel cocking?

I had just come in from 3 warm up laps to turn the camera on, so my brakes were already shot, hence not having 100% confidence in them, tyres were also at the limit.

EDIT: Oh and on the way home putting my stereo back in i've blown a/several fuses as i've lost power to the climate control, interior lights, digital lcd and stereo.

Nice one alexisonfie.

Are you running stock brakes? I have just put some higher DOT fluid and braded lines on mine as boiling is a common problem with the stock setup. Its not an expensive mod and should make a massive difference. First trackday is planned for a couple of months time so will report back.

And going on SS's reviews, an ARB is on my shopping list too.

Indeed i am, funnily enough my second post from that forum, which i forgot to copy over, said i was also going to change to braided hoses and high temp fluid :D Cannot express how much anybody with one of these cars needs to take it on track, epic, epic fun :D

Where you 2 based? Me and a few mates (another 182, a Civic (maybe) and an MX5) are looking at doing a trackday at Abingdon Airfield (near Oxford) soon.

I meant to say out rather than off.

I've always found using cardboard to wedge a stereo in quite effective in this situation :P

I'd be a bit cautious about airfield days unless it's tarmac, as they tend to ruin tyres and paint.

Agreed. Hullavington and Keevil have a reputation for destroying tyres as there are concrete areas, but I haven't heard bad things about the surface at Abingdon. Its never going to be as good as a proper track though, but for a first outing in my car I would rather have the security of sailing on down a runway should something go wrong rather than plowing into a barrier.

Grr, dam you alexisonfire! I am now trying to convince myself that a 300 mile round trip for a track day at Bedford is a good idea :D

Its a brilliant circuit...

I did 460miles in total and averaged 29.7mpg which i thought was pretty good going.

Eco run to the track (averaged 48.3)

Leaving the track i believe it was 23.4

And when i got home it was 29.7 :D
