Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Whenever someone puts a car up they are breaking on CS the arch liners are always the first to go. They seem to be made of soft cheese and crackers! lol.

i think i'll be able to repair it rather than replacing the arch liner. looks pretty easy to swap bumpers, just hope the colour match is ok:)

might've been better to have just taken it into a garage though. bumper cost £100 and respray was £125. wonder how much renault would charge for a new bumper, not a lot more?

Got my bumper resprayed today. £125:cool: in titanium silver. Is it easy to fit? I'm guessing swapping over the renault badge/fog lights is relatively straight forward?

Was that price mates rates? Decent job?

My front end is peppered. Most of it is just chipped lacquer though some are rather impressive stone chips. JMS seem to think it might have had a respray before hence the softness.

Since loosing the ditchfinders I am finding that when I drive 'spiritedly' around roundabouts I can feel the outside front tyre leaning on the sidewall and then loosing grip.

CS recomendation is for around 1.5 degrees of nagative camber on the front (just leave the back stock). Trouble is, I dont know anyone near me who would be able to properly setup geo using camber bolts (most places will just set it as close to the factory setting as possible) and I dont have the tools or skills to do it myself (who keeps a laser alignmnet rig in their shed? :)). Anyone know anyone in Hampshire who could properly advise on, measure and then set the geo on my car, without wanting elevety billion pounds for it?

Well, if you fancy a day trip to the Isle of Wight, Advanced Automotive will certainly do it for you, but I'd be surprised if any reputable geo/alignment place wouldn't set it up to your specifications.

Have you found information on castor, toe etc?

Aparently K Tec are good and they arent that far.

From what I have found, there is no way to change toe on stock suspension, and the best setup is to get everything set to factory specifications (whatever they are) with around 1.5 degrees of negative camber added on the front wheels with bolts.

I'm no suspension/geo expert, but I would have thought toe was done on the track rods? Now I know these are adjustable :) (obviously).

Have you found bolts anywhere yet? I need to order some tomorrow (well, today) so I have them ready for Friday. The end of the week has crept up fast for me :(

Benny - Are you attending body expo? If you are, would you be kind enough to show me your motor?

It's unlikely I'm affraid. The more I save now the less mortgage I will need (can repay straight back) in a few months, so saving is taking priority at the moment!

However at the next strongman meet (my first) I'm happy for you to have a ganders and take you for a hoon.

k tec sell camber bolts. Bloody expensive for 2 bolts mind!

£40 notes is bloody expensive. Plus your allignment another £50. £90 for camber adjustment! I do feel as though mine could feel a bit more planted though, but mostly on the straights. Feels a bit crashy at times.

Really want to refresh all the bushes and engine/gearbox mounts. But going to have to wait untill after summer.

Guys I'm currently hunting a standard 172, ideally Monaco Blue.

I'm based in Chester, looking to buy end of April so just putting my feelers out:D

Anyone thinking of selling drop me a PM, I'm in CS as well, but not a lot of 172's about atm.

Cheers

Chris

What are you going to replace it with Matt? DC5?

I'd love a DC5 but can't afford one unfortunately. Currently I'm thinking DC2 RX model or Impreza WRX. Alternatively I might take a completely different route and go for a 1.5 HF CRX that I've seen up for grabs on CRX UK. Be nice to run a cheap car that's good on fuel for a while.

Still can't decide what to do!
