Who here owns a Renaultsport?

I want a track weapon to hoon about in like a teenager for a year or 2 before having to grow up. With the comute im already having to dilute the Cup to the FF version to keep me comfortable, but im definately not going below a 172 as this then become just "a sporty Clio", which is not what im after.

TBH, im not buying the car to be comfortable, im buying it to be a right laugh :)

why dont use u just get a phase 1 172?, cheap as chips now

slight engine differences (cable throttle, different air intake), no cruise control, A/C instead of climate (climate on most ph2s I think... apart from cups), different interior, bit less refinement. Projector halogens on all (think HIDs were an option on ph2). The ones I can think of right now

Some cups had climate as an option towards the end of production (as well as also being available in silver) and hids/xenons were standard on the phase 2 normal 172 (not the cup).

Phase 1 has slightly different ratios as well, also I've been told the geo is slightly different too.

Still, it has air con, same half leather/alcantara seats (infact they are better as the renault sport logo is in colour :p), nicer wheels than a phase 2 172 (not the cup though, turinis rock) and they are 15s which suit the car better imho.

A nice phase 1 would be better than a manky phase 2 anyday imho (well, I'd have a phase 1 over a 2 anyway :p).

I have a predicament guys....

Im downgrading from my Z4 :(

Now I've always loved the 182 with cup packs. Always wanted one when they first came out but then decided to skip that step in my life and went straight to the Z4.

However I want to purchase a house this year so the extra cash will help me out.

The less I can spend the better. My only problem is, the 172 doesn't look different enough from a normal clio.

That leave me with the 172 cup and the 182 with both cup packs.

To get a tidy 182 Im looking at spending £5k whereas a decent 172 cup would only cost me around £4k.

Thoughts? Not really sure what to do. The extra money would be a bonus if I went for the 172 cup but how raw is it really?

What's £1000 when you are buying a house!? Not a lot....

I would get the 182, but i am bound to say that since i own one :p But it also sounds like you want to get the 182 for its presence? I think if you get the 172, every time you drive past a 182 you will think "wish i'd spent that little bit extra"

You only regret the things you don't do.

Logic sucks some times doesnt it tommo :P

What I REALLY want is a 172 Cup with the half Leather seats, Xenons and Climate Control of the FF :(

Why did they put rubbish seats in the Cup?

Well seats, you can stick some buckets in.

Xenons can retro fit if you really want.

And climate, just get one of the Cups that had climate, simples :)

It is tempting to get a Cup and replace the seats with some Recaros...

But leather, climate, xenons, etc etc are also tempting.

I just replaced my 182 with an R27. I thought the 182 was an amazing car, the R27 is on another level.
